Mine is at the dealership right now. I'll report back what they say.

On the ride along with the tech, he said that during manual mode, the computer expects you to shift into 1st rather than doing it for you. So it holds 2nd gear as long as possible. He did say that the lurch or clunk was very noticeable and didn't feel right. He was going to look for any TSBs which I understand there aren't any but he said there may be an update for the TCM.

Stay tuned.

UPDATE!

I'm happy to report that the lurch is gone!

Here are the notes from my invoice:

"TCM reprogram test drove vehicle with the customer, felt a harder 2-1 down shift when in the manual mode. Connected scan tool and checked for codes, no DTC present. Verified proper trans fluid level. Checked for bulletins. No bulletins found on this concern. Checked for TCM calibration, found TCM did not have the latest calibration, reprogrammed the TCM for improved garage shifts. Program code 1817F. Test drove vehicle, the 2-1 down was improved."

So apparently, ask for the TCM Update related to Garage Shifts.

Good luck, everyone!

Hard to tell. I dropped off my car this morning at 8am and got the call that she was ready at 2:30pm.

If the tech knows what TSB to look for, I can't imagine more than an hour with test drive.

Anytime my 2LT/RS go 800RPM or less is downshifts. And yes at a stop it goes down to M1. But i never had a knock.

But going to look into TCM for improved garage shifts. Thanks!
