There are several black knights in the game. the one under the bridge in the undead parish shouldn't be tampered with until later in the game. I had a really strong 2 hander (pyromancer doing a STR build) and have become adept at baiting certain attacks and parry/riposte or circling behind them for the backstabs.

Levelling up just means going aruond killing things and if you don't get far enough, go back to the bonfire, rest and start over. Also, you can get the "soul of a brave warrior" type items to use for souls.

Right now Im stuck on the black knight that is in the tower just past the red dragon.... I think I am just going to leave him alone for now.

you can lure him down the stairs into the open area just at the top of the ladder (before the armored boar) and fight him there. if he's above you on the stairs, his lunge may just go over your head. Also, when you fight the boar, smack him in the face a few times. I killed it with one backstab and wanted his helmet. I think the drop rate is higher if you beat his face.

Equip your armor so that you're 25% equipment burden and have the rank 1 roll speed. Roll to the right to dodge his swings and go for a backstab. It's pretty simple once you figure out his attacks.

he's semi-funny but helps out alot with the game. before you spend money on a guide, watch a few of his videos. I watch for the comic relief.

On my way to the last boss now. Then I can start my new pvp based toon . Oh, I just found out I can make the crystal ring shied and it can be repaired. Talk about OP, this thing can one shot every mob I came across. It's stronger than my strongest weapon and its ranged.
