Cool

i remember the days when all there was. was a pipe running from the top of the valve cover and ran down long the side of the engine. to keep all that nasty stuff out of the engine. the bottom of the pipe was cut at a slant face to the rear. that would cause a venture effect sucking the bad stuff out of the engine. that is how the tube on the out side of a fighter jet is cut so the piss would be sucked out. always wanted to cut the slant the other way so that the wind stream would push his piss back in his face. of course i would only do that a pilot i did not like. that or put bubble gum over the end of the tube.

You don’t need research to figure out this bolt on is a waste. Catch cans and racing scoops, what we really need is a sponsor that sells Flux Capacitors. I saw a show once that had a Delorean with a Flux Capacitor and that thing burnt rubber until it left fire on the pavement. I would do anything for one of those.

A body builder will eat dog crap on toast if someone tells him he will gain 5lbs of muscle from it. A horse power junkie will wrap tinfoil around his testicles if someone tells him it will give him an extra 2 to 3hp.

Still I will probably buy a catch can from Pete soon. I need a new bolt on, this tinfoil is starting to make me chaff

Clearly...because all the evidence to the contrary is just made up.

It was a joke, lighten up. Some of the people on this site need to relax a little. The Cold Air Intake people can froth at the mouth sometimes and the Header tribe can get downright psychotic.

Clearly we all have an addiction or we wouldn’t be on here. I suggest group therapy at a local pub

i think it's interesting, and i clearly can tell that you know your stuff (referring to tracy i think). though in all honesty the guy on that CM forum is one who is labeled as knowing his stuff as well, and also the 3 other mechanics that chimed in on the thread i posted and agreed with him, also with as technical of responses as the comments on this thread. so i don't disagree with what you have said or what he said, but it's one of those "meh i'm kind of indifferent" outcomes for me, after reading all of the information.

though i do have one comment: if you tear down a lot of lsx engines and build racecars, it sounds like the lsx engines you tear down might see excessive use and wear because they are racecars. that doesn't necessarily mean an average car going down the road is in need of a catch-can. not that the catch-can couldn't provide some benefit, simply that "needs it" and "could benefit from it" are two different phrases applicable to two different types of uses for the same engine, it seems. after all my ls1 ran stronger the day i sold it than it did when i got it...no catch-can in sight.

though in the end several have suggested to run one engine with a catch can on for a period of time and then open the engine up, then take the catch can off and run for the same period of time and open up the engine again. compare the results and you have your answer...er, repeat with 5 engines and you may find a constant/answer. i just don't think anyone has time for such a feat

thanks all for your input. and ps, no offense to anyone. after all, we are all entitled to our own opinion

Wasn't excited...I just didn't catch the joke what with a lack of smilies or other indications...and the tone (as read) was on par with some other...questionable comments in here...

My mistake!
