From what I have read on here and seen on hotrod tv about high flow cats vs stock cats sound wise and flow wise is that the stock cats have something about the material on the inside being 600 pores and the high flow cats only have 200 pores of filtration, it was explained to me as in comparison to the stock cat diameter having 600 small straws all packed together and wound tightly, pretty restrictive, high flow cats only have 200 of these same small straws packed inside the same diameter of the 600, hence not as restrictive, more flow and more sound. Make sense ?? It did to me..Anyone can correct me if my comparison is wrong, but seems logical..

I had high flows with the at. It's a little louder, especially at startup, but I wouldn't say it's overly loud. Afm sounds bad, but overall drone was light. I now have longtubes and a cam, that's loud.

I think you go from 400 to 200 cells per cat from stock to aftermarket, but also drop from four cats to two.

Here's a video when I had just high flows and the a/t axle back.

Just stumbled across this thread... Because i absolutely love the sound of the flowmaster AMT And my same concern is the sound of AFM kicking in... Others have recommended exhausts that deal well with AFM noise but they just dont sound as good as this IMO... Up until this point i have not heard the AFm kick in yet so im hoping if i get this exhaust it wont be over the top noticeable ... Like SSgunner said any videos???

Has anyone installed or heard the Outlaw catback system from flowmaster? I think the full catback kit just recently released, used to only be axle-back. I always install an exhaust and then wish it were a little louder so wondering what the outlaw sounds like. I have a 67 Camaro with the super 10s and it sounds badass, kinda looking for close to that without raspy or obnoxious. I guess you could call it "tastefully aggressive"

I have the AMT catback and I love it - very "musclecar" sounding. Yes it sounds obnoxious when the AFM kicks in, but if you don't have a tune you can defeat it by the tap-shifting "trick".

I installed a Outlaw axleback for a buddy and with the resonators still on it was not as loud as the AMT (but likely has no drone).

If you don't need a polished exhaust, the AMT is a great value! I got mine for about $600 shipped off eBay last year.

I have an LS3, so no AFM. And I'd be getting the catback so that removes the resonators. I know that setup is louder than the AMT, just not sure how much or if it gets into the ugly type of sound.

Had a chance tonight to actually hear the AMT catback kit in person at a local car meet.....it sounds badass. Way better than the videos. Unless I hear an outlaw kit in person, I'm sold on the AMT
