Don't have to hear it, the whole damn car vibrates!

And it sounds like it backfires when it goes back to running on all 8.

I cannot stand the AFM either it's by far the worst thing about this car. Mine is a 12 and it surges when the AFM kicks off and driving around town it always hunting for a gear since AFM will come on at 35 mph while coasting in traffic and the car decided to shift to 6 at 35 then I press the accelerator and now the cat has to figure out that AFM is not providing enough power, realize it's in to high of a gear, then after of about a second of it figuring this all out it shifts down to 3rd and takes off like a raped ape. If I was driving next to me I would think I am trying to figure out how to drive a manual. It pisses me off to no end! So I too just drive using the paddle shifters.

Well said... I felt that! Although I'm quite familiar with this experience.

They obviously didn't have city driving in mind when they implimented AFM on the L99s. I can see where it would be useful for highway driving, but they should have put a minimum speed on it before it kicks off/on. I seriously think it is making my city driving mpg's worse than they would be without it.

Lose about 1-2MPG on the highway. In town dropped about 3MPG since the car is so much more fun now. Of coarse had Ted Jannetty do his magic on mine.

You just had to remind of that didn't you. I am a machinist toolmaker by trade and between that and riding motorcycles for many years I too have some hearing loss. The advice that I was given about agravating noises in a car was to turn up the radio.

I turn it up but can still feel it when it goes from 4 to V8 mode. It shudders and hesitates.

+1.

I can get 17-20 in the city and 20-26 on the highway.

The ranges obviously depend greatly on how fast I want to get there. Lol.

Of course!!
I don't know if we all have different cars, but I really don't understand how you can't feel AFM.
The first time I drove the car, thought it was a tranny grinding, you can feel the whole car vibrating.
I felt it with stock, feeling it with American thunder catback...
But I just ordered a SCT tuner and tune from Janetty racing and Solo high flow cats!!
Gonna have AFM tuned out at the end!
I live in a really small town, no highway, so I am almost always under 50 MPH and I feel that AFM sucks a lot more at low speeds...
BTW, cant wait to feel and hear the car with tune and solo cats!!
