Not trying to be a smartass. I just always thought that the car would start to lose coolant only after they blew.

Im in the same boat as you are. Im 19 working 30 hours a week, 17 hours college. Im working on getting a '12 2lt. Id love to have an SS insurance would eat me alive. Of course paying for a truck isnt helping me any, I got conned into that deal, long story. but regardless i miss my 2001 v6 like crazy but she became a money pit, new brakes new radiator, new tranny, the list goes on and on. Im just ready to have enough $$$ to get my new girl. Good luck with yours!

If you feel that you MUST have a V8, I'd look around for a used one. You might really be surprised by the V6 if you haven't driven one. I really wanted a V8 until I drove mine an felt how much power it had.

The way I am looking at it, if I wanna spend some big money on a car that is basically an affordable dream car, I might as well go big and regret the decision later.

Personally I'd buy a used SS or a V6 since either one will be faster than what you are in now and a new V6 or a used SS will be singificantly less money.

If I can find a used one around where I live, no one has got rid of theirs, and the ones that are used are only $2000 less than a brand new one. So might as well get a new one unless I find a good deal.

Keep the 4th Gen, use it as your DD, you may get a multiple car discount on your insurance. Plus it's cool when you're wearing a camaro t-shirt, and someone asks you what year, and you rattle off "68, 79, 87, 95 and a 55 chevy...."

Get yourself the V6. you'll be amazed at how fast it is - and the insurance will be resonable.

I had a 95 z28 for years, 168k miles...it had a rear main seal leak, internal issues and was going to be a money pit. I wanted the new camaro ever since it was a prototype. I waited over 4 years to be financially stable for it (having a family changes things) Now I have a 2SS and have spent around 6g's in mods, For me I never have had a stock car so it was worth waiting.

Honestly, I really couldn't think of a better time. Im single, dont have any bills besides insurance and phone bill. More money than I can think to do with from work. 100% honest, I think that this is the best time for it.

I would personally tell you to drive the paid for car. Save up all the money you can while your young and invest in your retirement. If you go with this plan, you can pay cash for whatever you desire when your older.
