Hell yeah it's intense. This is serious stuff. I was doing 45+ mph when it happened to me. What if it would have went through my windshield and knocked me out......
Not to mention the $3300 worht of damage it created to my car. I know exactly where this is coming from.

regardless of anything else being said in this thread....what transpired is illegal...probably a felony. The OP should have gotten the tag # and reported it. Beyond that...well...I can't say what I would have did unless I was there.

The language of the law reads as follows:
"Whoever, wantonly or maliciously, shoots at, within, or into, or throws any missile or hurls or projects a stone or other hard substance which would produce death or great bodily harm, at, within, or in any public or private building, occupied or unoccupied, or public or private bus or any train, locomotive, railway car, caboose, cable railway car, street railway car, monorail car, or vehicle of any kind which is being used or occupied by any person, or any boat, vessel, ship, or barge lying in or plying the waters of this state, or aircraft flying through the airspace of this state shall be guilty of a felony of the second degree, punishable [by a maximum of 15 years in prison]." |

It always amuses me how these kinds of threads devolve into the same "carry concealed", "if I had been there", etc internet posturing. Let's be real here for a second- the overwhelming majority of the people here advocating brandishing (or using) a firearm in response to situations like these would in reality never do so, and those very few that would, well, you're going to prison. This is not the Wild West, and the law does not afford you the right to threaten, injure, or kill people that damage your property.
I am 100% FOR the right of private citizens to arm themselves for personal protection. I do personally exercise my right to carry concealed when I am in a state where I am allowed to do so. What bothers me about threads like these and the behaviors/viewpoints expressed therein is that they are exactly the kinds of ammunition that lawmakers and politicians use to strip private citizens of the right to carry, open or concealed, or to own a firearm period. In my perfect fantasy world, I'd be able to shoot people who drive slowly in the left lane, or those who dare to pay for their 10 dollars worth of groceries with a check when they're ahead of me in line at the grocery store. However, this is reality and it simply doesn't work that way, right or wrong. I'm not going to debate whether or not an armed response is an appropriate reaction to this situation, or similar situations. Personally, I don't think it's warranted unless in direct defense of the life or welfare of yourself or another person, and that tends to be way that the laws are worded in states that allow you to use deadly force. However, I recognize and accept the validity of opinions that differ. Just so there's no confusion: I want to maintain the right to carry. I want to be able to put a bullet in someone in defense of myself, my family, or someone else, with the reasonable expectation that I'm not going to spend the rest of my life in prison because of it (I'd LOVE to have the right to shoot someone to stop them from stealing my car, but that's never going to happen and I realize that). If we want to continue to have the right to own, carry, and use firearms in those ever-dwindling locales that still allow it, we have to be smarter and more responsible than what is being displayed in this thread.
