1. you stated its in a garage.
2. why would you disconnect the battery, thats why they make battery tenders!
3. better yet, you live in a cold climate, why not start it every 2 weeks, let it idle until it gets to operating temp. keep everything lubricated internally that way you wont have a dry start up in the spring.
Use your brain people, all the info to make informed educated decisions is right here on the forum or on the INTERNET. The INTERNET is your friend, use it.
You sound like one of those guys that believes everything they post on the internet and say on the news!

Well if you start is up every few weeks and warm the engine up to operating temperature and let it stay there for a while you will follow these steps.

Step 1. engine is running.
Step 2. you are smiling because the engine is running.
Step 3. you wish that the roads didn't have snow on them so you could drive.
Step 4. car is up to operating temp.
Step 5. you want it to be spring.....wishing and wanting doesn't make it happen faster though sorry.
Step 6. let it run for at least a good 10 minutes after it is up to operating temp.
Step 7. sit in the car.
Step 8. rev the engine some to get everything flowing good and bring your oil pressure up some...doing so will make you smile more and wish it was spring.
step 9. shut the car off and put the cover back on.
Step 10. go back in the house and lay down and cry yourself to sleep due the winterization and your car being in hibernation. heh that rhymed.

I ran into the trunk issue when disconnecting my battery to install HID's... after panicking for a half hour, I realized I could crawl into the trunk through the backseat and pull that panic tab and voila. Your way works, too, it's just a lot harder!

Oops, sorry, didn't see the other thread. Now I know! (I just realized this is like the third comment of this nature....)
