THE TRUNK IS NOW OPEN!!!

Yes, everyone. I just got my trunk open. I tried to use a clothes hanger a mirror and a flashlight, but realized this was a lost cause as I only have two hands. So then it dawned on me...I have a chevy impala and my wife told me she had bought jumper cables. I grabbed the jumper cable and was ready to connect them until i realized they were to short. So i spent about 10 minutes pulling the battery out of my impala and placed it next to my camaro. I hooked the cables to the terminals under the hood of the camaro but as I was about to connect the other end to my impala batteries I realized that I didn't have any terminal posts on the battery for the jumper cables to connect to. So, I tried to attach the cables to the minimal about of metal that was there. The lights came on and the panic alarm went off at 1230 am in the morning. I unlocked the camaro which turned off the panic alarm and quickly hit the trunk release and watch the trunk lid pop open.

So I have learned a couple of things...tonight the car will sit in the garage with the trunk lid open. Second, tomorrow I get some string and tie it around the trunk release and place the other end of the string right behing the back fold down seats for this purpose.

Such and eventful day. Thanks everyone with your help!

You started a new thread for this?.....That is a little above and beyond on effort. You could have posted your success in your original thread on the subject.

I must say you have started quite an epidemic of people worrying about locking their trunks after disconnecting their battery. Don't scare us like that again please. Some people are trying to sleep.

You may now proceed to step 13.

If you were smart, and actually thought your winterization plans through you wouldn't have put yourself in this predicament.
1. you stated its in a garage.
2. why would you disconnect the battery, thats why they make battery tenders!
3. better yet, you live in a cold climate, why not start it every 2 weeks, let it idle until it gets to operating temp. keep everything lubricated internally that way you wont have a dry start up in the spring.
Use your brain people, all the info to make informed educated decisions is right here on the forum or on the INTERNET. The INTERNET is your friend, use it.

First of all, I have never winterized a vehicle before. I figured I would have to take the battery out of the car and put a trickle charger on it. Secondly, I have asked questions before about winterizing, but you must never have read my thread. Many people say to never start your car once every two weeks. As the car does not get hot enough burn out all the water vapor. Many say that your better off to just let it set over the period of time and then start it in the spring when you are ready to drive it. There may be a lot of information on this forum, but you must sift if out and find out whats true and whats not.

Yes, I started a new thread. Hell, some people didn't read my the first post of my last thread. they were telling me to just pull the trunk release from inside...hmmm...how convient for me. Anyhow, I figured this would be simpler for someone to find rather than trying to figure out what page I put and update for how I opened my trunk.

I know someone who is the service manager at a local ford dealership. When I had my '08 Mustang GT, he told me a battery tender was just fine for my car during the winter. Starting the car every few weeks does more harm then good!!

Don't you have a rear seat pass thru and a small child that can go in and pull the emer release?

Never mind I read your other thread.
