Fixed that for you.

The ZR1 is a total package that runs with and bests most of the finest cars in the world...The 2013 Mustake is just a rehash/ power boost of the same old car with the same old limitations.. It isn't worthy of being on the same track as the ZR1 and you can take that to the bank..
Really? Help me understand how a car can run with anything when it's not even available to buy yet? And worth, like beauty, is a subjective thing. What you hold valuable others might look at as garbage. Just saying.

This is great for all HiPo MuscleCar Fans. If any of you old farts here remember the mid 70's to mid 80's it was a BIG downer for muscle cars. 145HPZ28? Mustang302with 140HP WT*? Enjoy these times while they last and buy what you like and what you can afford.Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

I stand corrected and have to agree the ZR1 is a completely different animal.

I think the guy made a mistake when he mentioned the ZR1.

All the guys that say the GT500 is not a "all around car" or as good as the camaro need to drive one. Honestly, you'll never want to get back in the camaro. I'm dead serious, the interior fit, finish, refinement is that much better, imo. AND, add the fact that you can get a 10' GT500 for $40K and have the kind of aftermarket to easily make well over 700rwhp on pump... its a hard car to look over.

... and I'm a chevy guy. I'm just saying, take one for a spin.....

Displacement means nothing in a Forced Induction Engine, Fords engine also has forged internals it's torque that suffers with a low displacement naturally aspirated engine, ex. BMW's S65 V8. GM doesn't increase the horsepower for a couple of reasons I'm sure.

1. As I believe the fbodfather said, the Mustang is currently Ford's Camaro and its Corvette. Therefore the GT500 is competing with both cars. The Camaro ZL1 with only one car.

2. The LSA is NOT forged like the GT500 therefore it requires LS9 parts or aftermarket parts to be as capable (without blowing up) as the Ford Engine.

At least that's how I see it

How did this happen on a Camaro forum? 500+ posts in one day, about a damned MUSTANG? I haven't even seen that much excitement on the Mustang forums...

Yeah; that new GT500 should be a monster, as I'm sure the ZL1 will be 1/2 way through next year. We all know that it'll get a bump in power, as well.

Nice to see them available, but I question for how much longer the big 3 will be allowed to offer these high-power toys for street use. 500 hp and 500 foot pounds, is already pretty serious go, for a street toy. I'm certainly not complaining, but some crazy greenie will be calling it all unsafe for street use, before long.

Beg to differ, I have driven one. As a matter of fact a friend and I swapped cars at Willow Springs Raceway last weekend. I liked the feel of the boost, but all in all the Camaro is a more comfortable and confidence inspiring sports car IMO. The interior of the GT500 caught me as less thought out that the Camaro, and the dash appears to be an afterthought to the refined look of the outside of the car. to me the car had zero character on the interior. Remeber thats just MY opinion.

Explain to me how a car that is the same basic platform as prior years and subject to many of the same shortcomings could compete with a car that was SPECIFICALLY built to compete with the words most capable sports cars..

No problems here. I disagree but that's the way it goes.

The camaro with the IRS has its advantages on the track vs the solid. And less power to the ground will equals less headaches trying to keep the tires planted.

But, how cares about corners anyways?! 40-60mph rolls for me!

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but not many will admit it. Hell, i find it hard to really push my v6 camaro without going to jail Very few people will ever push these cars to their limits.
If you were in line to get a zl1 and you want a gt500 now, you are a retard. And I say this because if the only reason you are changing your mind is because of the gt500's HP numbers, then why were you in line for a zl1 in the first place. Because if HP is all that matters, you can get crazy HP a lot cheaper than the zl1. The car will be a pos but the engine will be bad ass, since that's all that matters.

I'm not trying to downplay the Shelby's hp #'s either. I'm sure the car is a complete monster and will probably beat the zl1 on paper, and maybe on the track too. Who knows?
Nobody. But numbers don't win races, people do. But as far as what's going on around the water cooler, ford just pissed in chevy's cake and they have bragging rights cuz even non car people judge cars by the HP numbers. Not that it's right or even accurate, but the sad reality. And that's why the auto press is having a field day with this news, and why some of you are upset and slightly uncomfortable. Lol.

I love competition, and I love when one guy one ups the other guy and that guy comes back and one ups. And when people loose their shit in the mist of it all.
And even though the zl1 just got bitch slapped on paper, I still like it better than any mustang no matter how fast cuz it simply looks better to me. And at the level of performance both of these cars are sitting at, looks are a lot more important to me, not beating some guy by one tents of a sec, in a race I will never have. Unless you count the dyno, lol.

The camaro in the photo looks like it has aftermarket tires and likely, has aftermarket suspension mods as well. The GT500 on the other hand is a non-SVT PP car. Use a GT500 with the SVT package and the Camaro will not be able to keep up. Ask the Porsche 911 and BMW M3 owners around the "streets" or the "big track" next time over there. Better yet, ping me and I will meet you there in my '11 GT500 SVT-PP and I will let you drive it for a few laps and compare it to your Camaro. Any road course going guy will tell you that stock, the fat 5th Gen Camaro is not fun. As a matter of fact, the new 5.0 leaves it in a road course. You gotta know, I own both cars and I have owned 49 cars to date and comparing the interior, the Camaros big plastic everywhere is not better than the Mustangs. In fact, most if not all testers graded the Mustang's interior better than the Camaros. But I respect your opinion. It is what floats your boat and that is what counts.
