I think the point is, you can (from the factory) get a beast of a car that is built to take a beating and it comes with a warranty... That kind of coverage is part of the value of the car... Me personally, I would have loved to pay a lot less for my THR since I was basically driving it off the lot with very little of what I paid for in warranty.... But that isn't the option. maybe that should be an option... different discussion...

But either way... whether I can afford to fix my car or not... I paid for a warranty. ... it is feature just like everything else on the car. And since people pay for it, they want their money's worth out of it.

So,
I agree but at the same time the warranty is only as good as the dealer doing the work for it. There are far too many dealers now that sell a car and dont care after, or they will try and find any which way to get out of fixing it. The way I see it is I wouldnt buy a car that I couldnt fix without warranty.

For example there are various sponsored dealers on here and other forums working hard to sell you a new car. When do you see that many dealer service departments or their customer service reps on here putting the same effort.

I agree, the service manager is the key to getting good warranty work done....

The best Sales dealership in the wold can have a terrible service department.

I'd love to see all dealers take on a complete customer service effort where warranty claims are concerned. BUT, when knuckleheads like me drive in to the dealership wanting a new transmission cus my super charger grenaded it... that's not fair either.

So we need to do a better job about shopping the dealership as well as the car.

I'll never buy from a local dealer here.. for that reason.

Some dealer service departments have workers that love what they do and have a passion for the car while others (most) are just there for the paycheck. I understand there are a lot of people who neglect the warranty as well which I do not agree with at all. These type of people should be treated accordingly but others like myself which I was having the issue with my v6 manual AY6 transmission after 3 replacements then they just decided to deny any warranty work on my car all around my area now that is shady. After that situation I found out that the warranty didnt really matter around this area.

I can't argue with that at all... That does suck.

So,
I understand that line of thinking, I just don`t get it. My SUV, yeah, warranty is a great thing to have since I don`t abuse it or drive it hard, I expect whatever is covered by the warranty to fix it. A performance car that is driven hard....Not so much. If I break the car, ie.. not just a mechanical failure and it can be linked to operator abuse, personally, I don`t believe it should be covered. If you buy a ZL1 and don`t drive it hard then why did you buy a ZL-1? A minivan is just as good for driving around from point a to point b. If you have to have a Camaro but aren`t going to drive it hard save the 25-35k and get the v6. Of course this is just imho.

If you want to beat the 2013 GT-500 its fairly simple, SS automatic Whipple w/ stock pulley, headers, exhaust, CAI, tune and a set of tires, all less than 10k over the car price. So 33k 1ss +10k upgrades= 43k = faster than 56-60k gt-500 for less money and you have at least 13-17k left over to fix what you "may" emphasis on "may" break in the drivetrain. Stuff like power windows is still covered under warranty. I have a 2ss and right now I have 46k in the price of the car and upgrades and it runs 10.84@126.72... should do 10.50`s w/ 1 more part, runs and drives like stock, only thing I do is air the tires down after driving to the track, run 10 second passes air back up and go home...
Same thing an be done w/ a 5.0 new mustang and save a ton of money compared to the GT-500.

For me it mean more than getting a warranty too. A Factory hot rod has more luster than a modded car that just any old Joe buys.

You have to make a distinction between Stock cars and modified ones.

if you are going to leave it stock then warranty is absultely valuable. Modded, totaly different and I agree.

EXCUSE!!!!

The idea behind a modded car is the uniqueness of it... the fact that mine has my own personal touch to it.

vice a factory car that is "seemingly" just like every one else...

But I totally see your point. There are those that see the car as it was meant to be and can't fathom ever changing it.

I get it.

i will take the GT500 and my warranty. o ya and i would take the GT500 name over SS anyday of the week.

you act like putting the same power in a SS is going to be the same or better when really is far from it. the GT500 will have better tranny, tires, suspension etc. the car is made to have 650HP the SS is not

when are people going to realize power is not everything.

opps, misread. on the SS part, but still would rather have GT500 over modded ZL1 with same HP

Really? So any rich guy who wants to go out and plunk a wad of cash down on a factory hot rod, has more luster to you than a finely built, tastefully done and modified lower trim level. Something the owner has put their own hard work, sweat and tears into, to make it unique and perform like no other?

Frankly that sounds like some of the people on here who get pissy because they spent that wad of cash on a factory hot rod and get mad because people mod the cheaper trim levels and beat them at the track and elsewhere for less money. Like we should not mod ours and how dare we do that, they spent the big bucks to be the baddest sob around and they are mad that we won`t let them be the baddest sob around. I know the type, I`ve been around the car scene a long time. Those types have their nose stuck in the clouds, haughty tone when talking to them ect.. Gives me no better pleasure than to wear them out at the track. You know what their fallback excuse is everytime? ...... You guessed it.."Well my car still has a warranty and yours doesn`t"...

It all comes down to who wants what at that point. Do you want the name or a faster car. When both essentially can be made faster than eachother. If your going for badging, name, and authenticity then you could get a gt500 and have a car that is worth more. If your going for faster most people get a barebones v8 whethere it be mustang or camaro and take that engine out anyways.
