I too was one of the ones with top problems on my 11 vert. It was very dishearting to know I had a $42,000+ car that was only a few weeks old and had less than 1,500 miles on it already starting to have top issues. I would have prob stuck it out if my dealer had been the one replacing the top but it was sent to a local body shop who had only replaced one other top on the new Camaros before. I would have felt safer if my dealership had a person who had been trained by GM to repair/replace the tops. I finally gave up and traded my vert in to the dealer and had them order me a new 2012 coupe with a sunroof. I'm very fortunate that the dealer worked me such a great deal on the new 2012 and gave me a fair offer in trade that my loss was very minimal. The only thing that helped me keep my sanity through this whole ordeal was the fact that my dealership tried their best to reassure me that they were behind me. Now truthfully,... me and my dealership did have a few very tense moments during this ordeal but it all worked out.
And now to the happy ending,.... My 2012 Camaro arrived on 11/11/11 and I picked it up the same day. I am very happy with my new SS. Thanks to my dealership going the extra mile, I continue to trust them and stayed a GM customer. I honestly do believe that GM is trying many things to fix the top issues, and I would like to think that a "fix" that will solve the major issues is just around the corner. After having my own top issues and reading about several others top problems on here I came to think that if "EVERY" dealership that sold convertable Camaros had an in-house service tech that was trained by GM on replacing/repairing the tops that there would be far less horror stories. I read how a few forum members dealerships paid to have some GM people brought to their dealership to help train them the proper way to fix the tops and those members are now happy with their tops. Just a rambling thought of mine,.... But end the end I hope you guys do get your tops fixed and fixed correctly. |

Who are "They?" We have many insiders on here who could just come out and say, be patient the fix is coming soon. That is all we are looking for. Heck, my dealer won't even touch the top again cause there is no fix yet and they even told GM that. Chevy was looking for the fix from my dealer, not the other way around. In the end the only person that gets screwed is me. If I didn't drop 33 large as a down payment on this one I would just cut my loss and give it back now and buy a classic that me and my son can have fun with. Now Chevy is giving me crap about maybe not buying it back cause the field rep thinks it maybe fixable. Hello, read my service orders. 2 tops in 3 months. 2 window regulators. Paint chipping off the doors. The cup that holds the top handle broke. I now cannot wash it as it leaks water. The rear window trim is coming off. I had it in the shop second day of ownership cause the seat bottom fabric tore the second time someone sat in it. Heck I have been waiting on parts to come in since October 13th. They are still on back order. 49 out of 108 days of ownership this car has been in the shop or waiting on parts. I could lemom law this right now just for window trim only. Plus come springtime it will be back in the shop to have the issues from 10/13 resolved along with a new top, leak fixed, window regulator, and window trim. Guess I can tack on another week or 2 for that one. The only reason it still isn't at the dealer as I had to put it away for the winter. Now this is some great quality that my tax dollars bailed out. Once my issues are resolved either by a complete fix, buy back, or lemon law. That is why I am pissed and many others are in the same boat as me. Plus my 95 Firebird Convertible that I had for 14 summers look just like new when I sold it this year. The top had no rub marks or anything wrong with it. As I have said before my 12K 2008 Toyota Yaris has never been in the shop except for an oil change. Even my 06 Caravan has only been in for an airbag sensor recall. That is it. Enough of my rant for now. Jason

I would like to see, when there is a true fix, not these little fixes, be a mandatory recall to get these things fix, since some service depts do not believe they even exist
