Oh noes! Now all the owners of previous ZR1 models are going to be upset that they didn't wait to buy a 2013!

Even if this rumor is true, the circumstances with the ZR1 (which debuted for MY2009) and the 2012 ZL1 (which is a brand new model with a 6 month production run) is totally different. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure that out.

JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE! BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE BIGGER AND BADDER CARS OUT THERE. LOVE WHAT YOU HAVE. LIFE'S TOO SHORT TO WORRY ABOUT "WHAT IF'S"!

But yes, you know Chevrolet will bump up the power. Simple pulley and re tune will get it up!

How much of the 400+ HP do the Mustangs GT and Camaro SS use on the street?

Plus, depending on what the GT500 is priced at (should think close to $60k), IF Chevy does increase the HP on the 2013 ZL1, they may also increase the base MSRP in order to justify it. They increase the base price of the C6 Z06 a few years ago $5k so I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same thing to their top of the line Camaro!

I don't get that. It's not a pissing contest to see how has the most horsepower. I could care less if the GT500 pumped out 680 rwhp. Show me the GT500 that'll do the 'berg in 7:41.

If I may speak freely. This whole need to have more horsepower than the GT500 is like penis envy. It's all in your head. Sure it'll make you feel better that yours is bigger, but does that make you the better man?

I agree. I think Al O.'s letter was pretty firm in that he feels his car will outperform the GT500 on the track. I guess we'll have to wait until around March or April when both cars are in full production, on the streets, and in the hands of testers, magazines, etc. before GM really considers responding to the HP increase from the GT500. It doesn't sound like GM really cares if the Ford is faster in a straight line as long as the overall performance around a racetrack is better. for this reason, I don't really see them increasing the HP in such a short amount of time as production for MY 2013 cars will begin in June of 2012 which only gives them a few months of transition to have to research and do testing on a new pulley or whatever for the HP increase.

Honestly for 2013 I don't really see many upgrades other than colors, and maybe a few interior options or carbon fiber pieces from the concept added. It's been 3 years and they still haven't installed a touch screen navigation unit in the Camaro so I won't hold my breath for that option either on the ZL1 anytime soon. I'm sure they tried to minimize the weight everywhere possible with the current ZL1 so don't expect that to be any better for 2013 either.

I plan on doing a HALLTECH Intake mod anyway when I get mine so that should bump it up to 600 HP at the flywheel easily, I'll be straight with that for awhile. If the new shifter sucks, then I'll put in a MGW, but other than that I'm just gonna drive the pi$$ out of her cuz that's what I paid for!

The only thing that I see as a change would be the Carbon edition. Alot of time and money went in to this car and they are only going to produce a limited amount for this MY. Everyone has there own view ( Thank the American G.I. for that ) and can choose there own path. Best of luck to all whatever your decision may be. If the do make changes to the car whether it be HP or something else and your not happy. Sell your 2012 and buy a 2013, 14, 15, etc. My wife and I ordered a 2010 white 2 SS and a few months later the Synergy green came out in the V6. That was my wife's favorite color. I call GM and spoke with some very helpful people and plead my case. Then the color was offered for the V8 as the MY 2011. So we sold the white one and ordered the green.
