Would you be happy with the Camaro only being around for a few years? thats Nuts, I want to see a 2023 Camaro

Well GM is now 0 for 2 the Demise of the 4th Gen was due to low sales, Poor marketing and the Ladies hated it. Second was the GTO. so Lets hope third times a charm. So far it's a hit, only time will tell.

Obviously so, more power and such, but for me I kinda like the idea of something looking not much different from the V6 version. The non enthusiasts thinks that it's just stylish like the V6 versions they've seen, but are very surprised when you show them your tail lights.

Not necessarily, the 4th gen was my favorite generation, by far. And I know a few other females who feel the same way.

So do we all, but I agree with what sterlingnotes said - After a few years, Camaro may start becoming an uphill battle to stay alive. Unless it dips it's feet into the Hybrid pool......That woulld put it lightyears ahead of the competition.

They're aware of what went wrong with the GTO, and they won't make that mistake again.

But there was more to the death of the 4th gen than what you say. It's not quite as simple as that. And, again - this is the new GM...old mistakes won't happen again.

I did not mean all but the overall ratio between men and women buying the 2002 Model was 65% Men 35% Women and the 4th gen sales went from 204,000 per year to 45,000 by 2002. I did not mean all Woman, you are an exception because you are an enthusiast, you buy cars for a different reason than most women.

Just Like a couple of women in our Mustang Clubs who are huge enthusiasts,
they love racing and trying to get more out of their cars. Then there's women like my wife who just does not understand why I need to buy this part or add that. She asked me why race just drive your cars like normal people. She does not understand. Shes putting Limits on the Camaro when we buy it, NO MODS. (ya that'll last oh 3 months) I waited 5 days on my mustang

I thought the Volt will be the premire Hybrid?
I think the in the future you will see more V6's becoming the high end engines
with better technology to manage fuel usage. Turbos and Superchargers will become popular to get HP when needed and save fuel when not. I don't see the Camaro, Charger / Challanger or the Mustang becoming Hybrids, that would be just wrong and Un-American.

If I want a hybrid I will get the Volt, (I am not a Jap car buyer so the Prius and Accord are out) I would buy the Volt for a Commuter car if it got 200 miles on a charge or the hybrid did over 50 mpg.
Also the SUV is a good candidate for this, look at the Ford Explorer Hybrid, good start. Although My 2000 Silverado Z71 gets good milage compaired to others in it's class.

Yea I know, I followed the issue closely and at the time I did not see the Camaro coming back and that is what made me look at the 5th Gen Mustang, since I did not like the New edge ones (Except the SVT Cobra) Anyway, I hope your right about GM learning from there Mistakes.

I think you misunderstand what I was saying - and I probably didnt elaborate enough. IF they offered a Hybrid V6 version of the Camaro...even a mild hybrid that gave a +2 mpg...No other Muscle Car would ever have offered that.(that's what I meant by lightyears. Competition = other sporty Coupes) I happen to find that VERY American; innovation, improvment, serious thinking outside the box. (Note though, That I never said the Hybrid would directly appeal to any of us here........)

Remember that Chevy is going to be GM's premiere 'Green' brand - So, I'm prepared to be surprised when we find out just where Camaro is going to fit in to that equation.

I don't doubt that V6's will begin to replace many V8's where a V8 isn't necessarily needed to begin with - but V8's aren't likely to disappear altogether. And take the DI V6 for example...it doesn't yield that much better fuel economy than a Chevy Small Block V8 - these motors are legends in durability, power, and fuel economy.

Now as for your buying criteria for the Volt...the only 'practical'(that's a strech) electric vehicle that I know of right now that can get ~200 miles on a charge is the Tesla Roadster...and that car is 90+ thousand dollars. Preliminary goals have the Volt at 40-50 miles of electric only travel followed by on-board charging at 50+mpg for the next 500+ miles. For ~30,000 bucks, That's damn good by me.

But this is very and I started it...I think. So I'll stop it.

It's just the way it happens.

These days, women are so into 'equal rights' that in their mind, they purposely will go out and buy a manly car, just to prove they CAN.

Seriously...not trying to hate on women....I LOVE women.

I just don't get it when a woman has to buy a high hp sportscar just to prove something. Especially when these are the type of women that don't even know how to change their own tires or change their own oil.
As far as women that can work on their own cars.....I say go for it.

I see, time after time, a woman wrapping a Vette or a 350Z around a tree because she couldnt handle a RWD car with more than 300hp.

And I'm afraid that the same thing will happen to the new Camaro.

Just like it did the Vette, the 350Z, the Cobra...and just the other day, I saw a chick in a Supra!

Talk about the most non-practical car for a female!

Oh well......women will always want what men have.

That's just my 2 cents.
You make me sick. Women have EVERY right to drive high performance car. Are there stupid women out there that don't deserve to drive a clown car? You bet. Can the same be said for men? Absolutely. Don’t think for one second that gender has anything to do with a persons ability to drive.

quick question about the 4th gen sales. when they say how far below thethe 4th gen was from the mustang, was that considering there were 2 4th gen cars out(camaro, trans am) , or was that number basically a chevy vs ford number???

Here is a chart I scanned from my American Muscle Car History Book
The Book says Total Numbers for V6 and V8 but does not include the Pontiac Firebird but I would guess
they were below the Camaro numbers
