Not saying it can't happen, never say never. But don't underestimate the work that has already been done to get 580.

Excellent point. Maybe the Z-28 if they come out with it will be that monster. A factory LS9 Camaro w/warranty their only cost effective option for an increa

I heard the 2013 ZL1 will have less power....lol...

2013 will have more power than 2012
2014 will have more power than 2013
2015 will have more power than 2014....

This has been going on since the 80's with no end in sight....

The real enthusiasts will buy the 2012, and already have their orders in. I would expect Chevy to make some performance mods to the 2013 (like a smaller pulley etc.) that are simple and add safe and simple HP. I would hope that chevy might offer those mods to the true and faithful enthusiasts that bought the 2012 at cost, but under warranty. Chevy, I truly hope you are listening.

Please make the perfomance mods made to the 2013 and 2014 available to the 2012 buyers at their ciust but under warranty?

PRETTY PLEASE?

Oh, and please add other interior stitching accent colors before orders are final? Preferably YELLOW! ;-)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING MY FRIENDS!

what happens if you wait for the 13 and the the up the horse in 14. That being said, they are always going to be changing things on these cars. If you like the car, get it. If not, go buy a mustang. Its your preference. My favorite quote, "when buying a car, choose the one you want to be seen losing in, because someone is always going to have something faster." not to mention aftermarket companies stocks are going through the roof!!!

I don't expect they will.

They don't need the HP to best the competition, in the first place...but that is a topic for another day.

To achieve power levels significantly higher than 580...you will see a SIGNIFICANT price hike...Camaro is not about that, imo. Let Corvette have the astronomical prices "just because".

Regardless...there WILL be a Camaro that is somehow better than this ZL1 in the future...as others have stated, this is the way of things. However, it doesn't make the '12 ZL1 any faster!!! So why waste the energy to worry about it, as far as I'm concerned.

I would not be surprised to see an increase. Just look back to 2010 and see how the V6 kept increasing. I think the same will happen with the ZL1. Just my opinion... Regards.

It has HUD, which I believe is good for at least 10 HP.

The only reason why the V6s were rated at 304 for 2010 and 312 for 2011 is because GM didn't bother certifying the LLT in the Camaro. They knew that it made at least as much it did in the CTS, and had Ford beat by about 100 hp, so they just left it. For 2011 when Ford had a brand new V6 for the Mustang, there was finally a need to show how much it really made. There was no actual change in the engine, exhaust, intake, accessories, or tune. Therefore, no actual power increase, it was all on paper. A 2010 V6 Camaro makes just as much power as a 2011. It would be like rating the 2012 ZL1 at 556 like the CTS-V, then the 2013 at 580.

There was a bump of a 11 hp for 2012 when they replaced the LLT (and a number of other V6s in the GM lineup) with the LFX.

Ha, quick answer should be no, if GM knew whats good for them. bottom line is this, Al already challenged them to a race... why go back and say, wait we need more horsepower...I think we have this in the bag in regards to track racing...

Totally agree.....

There are no more diehard fans than Camaro or Mustang guys. I bet less than 1% of sales will be lost to whomever you consider the "other side" just because of track/strip numbers.

I would say it won't be in 2013 ,but if the GT500 ends up besting the 2012 ZL1 then they will in 2014. Why would they up the hp if they beat the 2013 GT500 with what they already have. That would just give them something more to brag about.

Its not all about HP, as others have made clear.
Throwing more HP at something is not a balanced program.
Without a complete re-design of the platform Ford cannot compete with ZL!.
HP ls all that they can do to the Mustang to offset the hype generated by the ZL1.
Its more about marketing than performance if you simply try to flash higher HP numbers.

Lets face it...the Shelby didn't need more HP to make it a better car, so adding more HP is not going to help it.
Around here anybody who owns a Shelby has it tweaked that high already anyhow, and it doesn't help with anything other than bragging rights and maybe dragstrip with slicks times.
People after these type of cars are looking for a more well rounded balance performance car. Anyone can make more HP, thats the easy part.

Just like the SS, the car is just the down payment on the mods, 5 YR/100,000 blah blah blah will be out the window, I don't care how many HPs come from the factory, been there done that. It's a bug, a fever, and it's fun.
