"Possibly the finest interior I have seen in a Chevy product," says Mortara,

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...et_malibu.html

Quote from a MT article where they raved about the Malibu's interior. I think it's safe to say that if Chevy hooked up the grocery getter this well, our Camaro is going to be pretty nice.

I sat in a new Malibu tonite. It was just a base, no xtras, model. But the interior was very very nice.

I was there with a friend who's starting to look for new cars. He likes the '08 CTS. I tried to turn him onto the Malibu as well, but he doesn't like it and prefers the Accord...

I'm not even remotely worried about the Camaro's interior. GM has to sell 100,000 units per year to reach its goal and justify all the set-up expenses so it behooves them to insure the highest affordable quality that they can. This is a business after all and it all comes down to selling the most product possible and GM knows that quality sells.

Ford had the advantage in that the current generation had little to no competition on its release, so quality didn't have to be super-high. GM will have to steal Ford's customers (and, to a lesser degree, Dodge's) so they'll have to distinguish the Camaro in interior and exterior quality.

In short don't worry, we'll get the highest quality available for a reasonable price

My only worry is whether the seats will have enough lateral support for, umm, "aggressive" driving.
Agree 100%
I too did not find the Mustang Interior that bad, I know they were going with light weight, I mean the Power Seats with leather weight only 30 lbs and the rear seat is less than 10, the Aluminum hood is also a savings in total weight.
Someone on another forum took all the interior parts and weighed them and we were amaized that it all weighed a total of 280 pounds.
I weighed my car at the track with 1/8 of a tank, no spare or jack at 3380.
You will either get caddy comfort or racer cheap, problem is that comfort = heavy.

I test drove a GTO before I bought the Mustang and yes the interior was nice but the cars overall weight was do to some of the comfort.

I had a 84 Corvette that had the cheapest interior, it fell apart in 6 months.
A friend has a 2007 Z06 and is less than impressed at the qaulity of it's interior, it looks good but is cheap, but it is light weight plastic. his drivers side door panel fell of at his first car show, the center dash panel pops off, the lost the A/C control knobs.

So far my interior on the stang has no issues, no rattles or sqweeks, I have had id since July 2005 and have 45,000 miles with over 150 1/4 Mile runs and 18 laps at VIR and topped speed of 142mph. over all I am happy with it, but I did not buy it for the interior

Don't worry, I'm not taking it personally, but I completely disagree. I am actually very happy with the interior of my Mustang. Maybe it's because it's my first car, who knows...

I chose to get cloth because I don't like to sit in leather, and I have no complaints there, either. I sit in my friend's 350Z and I don't see much of a difference between the Japanese stuff and Ford's. Maybe it's because they are similarily priced cars.

Your dashboard looked nice, I also like the steering wheel. I'm buying the Camaro for the exterior and interior though..... but respect those that don't buy for the interior look. I guess I'm picky.

What if the Camaro Interior turns out to be less than expected, what if it's also a lot of plastic? from the pre-production shots it does look like there is considerable plastic, Granted there are many missing parts and the radio is not the production version, but it looks alot like the Mustang interior to me. But again, I am not buying the camaro for it's interior either. would that be a deal breaker for you? being that you are picky? Just a question.

If I were buying a Caddy or another Lux car I would demand top interior. but not on a Muscle car, it does not make a lot of sence. To me it's all about functionality.

I added mood lighting along with a Navigation system with XM Radio

Too much emphasis on interior.

I' m not buying the new Camaro so I can have a nice interior. I' m buying a Camaro for good looks, power, and performance. And I' ve always wanted one too. I think automotive magazines put way too much emphasis on a classy interior, especially Car & Driver, Motor Trend, and Automobile. I subscribe to all of these magazines and read many others and they all place far too much on an expensive looking interior. I can understand if you were buying a Cadilac, BMW, Benz etc., but this is Chevy. As long as the interior is functional and doesn' t rattle or squeak, I' ll be happy, and it won' t affect my decision to buy a Camaro.

But why have cheap, hard plastics when the competition has nicer materials, better fits, and less squeaks and rattles for the same price?

What Competition? Dodge charger ? Yea Right the seams don't line up and it's worse than the Mustang...
as long as the interior is of good quality and fits nice who cares, I don't want an extra 150 pounds of ohh looky at the plush interior 16 way tilt seats, with lumbar mesage and 3 way heat, multi zone A/C all Fluff IMO. If I want fluff I'll get and CTS-V

By competition I mean the Japanese. Good materials don't have to add weight. We're not talking about luxury equipment here. We're talking about materials that don't feel like recycled toothbrush handles combined with sand paper. We're talking about precision fits. We're talking about low-glare materials. The problem with so many people here is that they've never sat in anything but old domestics so they don't realize that quality interiors can be had without paying more or adding weight.

People want too much. All the plush, and all the 'classy' crap; That I'll give you.

But on the other hand, Stovt001 does have a point. Being blind to any 'downfalls' about the Camaro, (i.e. none ) doesn't meant that the majority of buyers won't like to have a quality, and nice-looking interior. Chevy, and GM in general is on it. No worries here. Comparing Jap interiors? Check out the Malibu, CTS...Silverado (most of the GMT-900's)....a BIG step up.

Now. I'd like a nice inside, something to be unquestionably proud of. (which they WILL deliver, worrying about it is kind of silly; you think GM's going to re-introduce one of the most famous cars in history with a crap interior? Um...no.) But if the subject ever came up in a boardroom, I'd want them to allocate more time, engineering, and money on the powertrain, and performance, than sacrificing all that to give us a "world-class" interior.

I really seriously have no worries because I have seen the Malibu's interior... If we get anything like that in the Camaro, it will be an AWESOME car (even though it already is )
