Yes, in the right circumstances, ie empty roads, street racing is fine. If you only put yourself and the guy you're racing in danger. But too many people begin to street race with other people around. It only takes one bump, or one unexpected event from another driver to spiral a fun event into a manslaughter charge....

Just saying. Unless you have quick cars why even bother?

Street racing is stupid and dangerous but you can't call yourself a car enthusiast if you've never "accelerated excessively" on the street before. This includes abusing the speed limit too. Anybody who wants to learn more about their car has some fun occasionally. There are more appropriate areas and times to have fun though.

Years ago I got busted for street racing in Ma. We had a group of about 50 cars and would pair up head up onto the highway block off traffic and run under over-pass to over-pass approx 1/4 mile. It was super fun and stupid all at the same time. On the pass I got caught on an undercover in a late 90s Z-28 lit us up as soon as we launched, he actually lined up behind us to block off the lanes so we could line up to race. The lawyer fees were steep and I was lucky to get out of it with a warning as my record was spotless. This was my last street race!

It's were it all came from, until some guys in Cali got the idea to take it to
an abandoned airfield to make it safer. Right, wrong, or indifferent if you have a modified
street legal car somewhere along the way you have been quilty.
That's all fine and good.. just don't come in here and brag about it... it's a pretty simple rule!

As for me... $25 at the local track gets me all the 1/4 mile passes I could want' in a day! I have no need to speed on public streets...

Exactly. It goes both ways.

This thread will be locked soon, but same goes with racing, yes there are tracks but at the same time there is nice long straights with no cars but the two next to each other. The only people that could be hurt are the drivers and they know what they are getting into.

That 1/4 mile is nuts, even for a 392!

You must be one hell of a driver.

You guys know why street racing is not advertised here same as any site. Many of you may do it frequently and many of you seldom. I would even bet some of law men here have done it.

Personally I don't street race because its just not enough for me. I like the times from the track. Although i do want to slap the guy when he sprays water on the whole area erg.

No one here is gonna stop anyone from doing what they wanna do but you know it should not be advertised or debated on this site.
