Order update - Page 6 - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

By all appearance there is a color issue unfolding. I hope someone with the authority to release the information will address the color situation. Credible appearing posts involving imperial blue metallic and crystal red tintcoat being constrained, or dropped, for the ZL1 have been made recently. Cars orders will have to be altered. Although this does not affect me personaly, I am a bit confused myself reading these posts. Some insight or clarification will benefit us all. Thanks in advance.

Scott indicated in a post on Sunday evening that Crystal Red Tintcoat will be available to order on the ZL1 after the turn of the new year --

What about IBM? I have 2 orders from 2 different dealers both in IBM. One dealer called and said a GM rep came by and said my order needed to be changed since IBM is no longer available going forward. The other dealer has heard nothing from GM.

I missed that Bear, thanks...any word on all the IBM chatter? That seems to have been dropped?

Unfortunately, I have neither seen nor heard any reliable information regarding the status of IBM availability on the ZL1. Maybe Scott will comment with respect to IBM availability.

My dealer has not called me so, I am leaving IBM as my color choice.

Lol. Now I don't know who or what to believe. GM customer service has confirmed to me that both my orders will be in IBM and that the color is available. So who to believe? Dealer or GM customer service. If you want to call yourself you can use this reference number if you like so the rep would know who to call. Ref # 71-1018360304

That's the odd thing for me. One dealer called me to change the color other one said we haven't heard anything

I called yesterday and was advised that the IBM is available for the ZL1. Only time will tell.

Dealing with customer service and I guarantee you that no two people will get the same answer...They DONT know the answer. Nature of the business.
We will get confirmation on this soon enough... Plenty of time left...
No orders will move forward we know for over a month or two from now anyway...
BUT... I can see where it would be nerve racking if you ordered IBM...

The Camaro Team requested that I post this......

" to update you on Imperial Blue Metallic and the availability issue surrounding that color on the ZL1 and other Camaros --

Because Camaro shares a common body and paint shop with several other vehicle lines at Oshawa, we must abide by decisions that affect more than just Camaro - and thus Imperial Blue Metallic will be discontinued very shortly. Offering it for only a week or so on the ZL1 is not practical as it would require paint re-validation for ZL1-unique components such as bumper fascias. Crystal Red Tintcoat will be available to order shortly.

We will have further information as to order cut-off dates for LS, LT, and SS models in Imperial Blue Metallic very shortly.
