Go to Post #7. It puts more TQ to the wheels. Plus I researched it around. Upgraded gears do add some TQ.

I have 3.73.. I didn't gain torque. They put the peak torque lower in the rpm range, but it doesn't create new torque.

No...gears do not create more actual engine torque....just get the power to the ground easier and more efficiently and should definitely be noticeable to the driver.

Jeff is right, it does not create torque, but it does multiply the torque at the wheels. you would "feel" more torque. but not "have" more torque.

By changing your gears you change the amount of torque the wheels are putting to the ground. The problem is at some point you are going to make the car slower. Think bicycle gearing. Lots of torque in first but you are not going to have much of a top end. Another example is a dump truck tons of torque but I could beat it in the 1/4. As long as you have lots of rpm's you can take advantage of gearing.

Thanks everyone for clearing things up for me. I have never messed with gears and was just researching and looking. I did find out that alot of people (Ford, Chevy, & Dodge forums) think it adds engine torque like I did. And alot also say what yall have said also . I also am going to wait on the gears. Want to see how this does as is, since no one has Twin Turbo'd a M6 before to see how good it will hook up. I'm thinking the extra torque maybe to much down low if it turns out like all the other turbo builds that have the Automatic. May just resell the still boxed SS (FE3) suspension I have and just redo my OEM set up. And add a strut tower bar since the car does handle like a lil hog!

Gears are mad expensive anyways. Id go with the additional fuel pump first.

everytime I come on C5, this is the first thread I check. Absolutely love this thread.
As for the gears, having that lower end power would definitly be helpful and just the feel of it will be awesome.
Once again, cant wait to see the M6 results.
What happened to Oranges boosted M6? It was pushing around 450 last right?
