I guess that's why Alpine are currently used in BMW, Mercedes, Audis, and Vipers as the OEM radio?

1981 world's first automotive navigation system, created for Honda as the Electro Gyrocator
1982 world's first in-car computerized equalizer
1983 Alpine introduces their first remote control auto security systems
1993 7980 world's first in-dash 3-CD Changer/Tuner
1994 world's first speaker utilising DDDrive Technology
1998 world's smallest CD Auto Changer
2001 world's first swivel in-dash monitor
2004 world's first Dolby Digital EX aftermarket in-car product
2004 world's first company to manufacture a component which can interact with an iPod
2007 introduction of the iDA-x001, the first headunit developed in partnership with Apple to utilise the iPod
2008 introduction of the Imprint sound processor Technology, which allows individual car audio system tuning

Yup, Alpine sucks.

The Viper was the closest you came to a point...and even then? When has BMW had a good car? Mercedes deserves Alpine! I didn't even know Audis was a make (any more)! Just saying. Oh yea, the local Alpine dealers here also recommend other names as they are having issues with customer service and well as product quality! Yep, Alpine quality went out in the 80's.

Forgot that all BMWs also suck, as well as Mercedes, and Audi too. What am I thinking?

Glad you figured that out! I was getting worried that you didn't notice their quality left in the 80's with Alpines. Why else would they use Alpine as OEM?

, are you really that naive,,the viper is the worst car in the bunch...it has the worst braking system of any car that has a top speed of 135...fact also one of the worst handling... ....just because you see a guy drifting it , thats all it is good for...and a straight line......it also does not handle near as well as any german made ..the top 20 handling cars rated by half a dozen diff people have at least 3 mercedes -2 audi,s and 3 bmw...road noise is almost 0 in all 3 cars...and if you spend as much as a srt viper on a m3 with tt or sc and my $$$ is on the m3...you can easy get a m3 with 700hp down the track with low 10 , possible 9,s...what do you consider a good car...camaro, looks good, total muscle car look, but let,s not confuse the ss with a amg or a m series...incase you forgot what audi makes , here is a clip..might spot some of those crappt mercedes in there to..

Alpine still makes very good stuff. One of the best. Problem is, all radio manufacturers make fewer decks now. So instead of brands having a dozen kick butt decks...they have two....and then a bunch of others that 'work' and meet a price point.
Kenwood, alpine, and pioneer are my current product preferences....especially in double din video interfaces. Roll back to the late 90s, there were some really high end sq decks out there...Sony, alpine, clarion, etc. just depends on what you r after.

i agre 100% with you on decks, not really sure what happened to clarion.??? they seem to be really building a brand...sony seems to try , but i don,t feel that they are inthat same class yet, very close...imo... but i agree totally on your top 3...i have always been a hone audio video pioneer guy...there elite brands...but am leaning toward the 910 as my audio guy believes the alpine squeeks out the pioneer..most seem to think that alpine is a little more user friendly...but def can,t go wrong with any of those double dins..

as for you earthshaker, i don,t think there,s any proving to you...but last info..unless you consider lambo,s -rice...The car was exclusively designed, developed, and manufactured by Audi AG's high performance private subsidiary company, quattro GmbH, and is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform- has quattro permanent all-wheel drive system..seventy workers fit 5,000 unique parts by hand..Ninety-five lasers inspect the entire car in five seconds to ensure that over 220 measurements are within 0.1 millimetres of the programmed plans...The transmission options are either a Lamborghini sourced six-speed manual gearbox with metal gate for the shift lever, or an Audi-developed R tronic[4] gearbox...R8 GT has a top speed of 199 mph ..oh, yeah..in case you did not know... Volkswagen Group owns both Audi and Lamborghini..so in you opinion lambo-ferrari-veyrons must be rice..as the audi uses 50% of the lambo parts...lol

To be honest, I just started this trying to mess with a fellow Devil Dog. I only continued due to all the excitement it sparked. I have however, been told my two seperate Alpine dealers here in Jacksonville, NC that their quality has went down the last 10 years. I have been torn between the Alpine and Kenwood when I get ready to tear the dash out of the Hennessey. With what the dealers are telling me, I will probably go with the Kenwoon unit...not to say that I will not change my mind. Still in the planning process and the lack of room in a vert makes it harder to choose the overall system.

Now, let's all be honest...no OEM radio is really that good (Bose, Alpine, Boston Acustics, etc) or the after market radio market would not be as good as it is and this thread would have never been started! Boston makes some good stuff, but what they put in the new Camaro leaves a lot to be desired! You can replace the stuff with after market Boston and improve the sound 10 fold!

As far as the other cars mentioned...I have just always been a Chevy fan. My Aunt has owned 3 BMWs and I have friends that own the others...I still give them crap and I drive a Chevrolet! That is just what I like...to each his/her own. Keep driving and to TexasDevilDog...Semper Fi!

good deal, well i,m sure you are in the right sound double din area, and kw is a top pick...my audio guy is extremely gifted and i don,t understand half the crap he says..lol...but zach @ extreme has posted here..look him up...he is very unbiased and will give you good info on all...there installer has won top installer in the us over the past 10 years and has placed 9 times in the top 10 u.s. installers...after #1 they don,t tell you which spot you came in...so 10 out of 10 years , voted #1 once and in the top 10, 9 other times...zach,s shop was #1 retailer in the u.s 2011, voted 2 months ago..he will try and give you pro,s and con,s of each system...as for oem, it is good, not great...but has a lot of interface that it works with is what makes oem good...

All you did was help prove Marines are one sided knuckle heads, thanks a lot. Joined the forum because I am interested in the Camaro. After 9 years with my Z and getting married I needed a family vehicle (something with a back seat) so I put the Camaro on top of my list once I sell my Z and motorcycle. Never been a one brand owner. Have had a 69 Mustang (handed from my father to me), 71 Olds 442 W30, My Z, a Cadi CTS (now my wife's car). Have always been into audio and making things go faster. Leave it to a Marine though to have one sided thoughts about something, especially American products. Hope you can read through the sarcasm, Semper Fi brother.

Oh, and Alpine doesn't suck.

71 Olds 442 W30....now there was a car. I almost bought one until the seller said, "Yeah, it'll pull the front wheels off the ground." Last thing I wanted was to rebuild a front end / suspension. I made the mistake of letting my dad ride with me when I went to buy another friends 55 Chevy with 350 small block, 3/4 race cam, tunnel ram intake, Muncie 4 speed and a 4.11 posi from a Camaro. I was "accidentally" leaving tire tracks on every corner.

Sooooo..... still waiting to see this Alpine kit hit the market. Wonder if it's going to be before I get back from Afghanistan? (Dec 2012)... Not counting on it.
