no because when you do the upgrade you take the rockers off the engine and re-build them on the work bench, then re-install them to the car.

time to pull the valve covers and have a look!

Ok thanks, what exactly should I be looking for? Is it possible that only a few popped out at this point or will there probably be more noticeable damage once I pull the covers off?

pull the valve covers and look at both sides of each rocker to see if the cap popped off and if there are any needle bearings laying in the bottom of the head, might take a small magnet and run it across the bottom through the oil and see if you pick up any more.

stock rocker on the right, and the other pic is what the upgrade kit looks like with the new bearings and snap rings

on the stock rockers, the cap on the end will pop off and the bearings will slide out.

also could be a lifter bearing. the roller bearings in the roller on the lifter look like those also. i have see a few of them fail and look just like that. check all your rockers first, that's the easiest

The rebuild absolutely fixes the problem ...... that needle could have been from before they were rebuilt, I doubt they stood over or near the vehicle when the popped them....LOL

The stock rocker only likes so many rpms and lift
Wait, I'm a little confused by this ^ are you saying the rebuild I had done should have been enough to prevent this or that Your additional rebuild steps would prevent this??

yes if you had the trunnion upgrade kit installed this would not have happened,, so untill you take a valve cover off and check them, we are all just guessing,, as said also these could be from a bad lifter roller.

Alright thanks for all the advice, I'll update when I talk to Ted. I'm sure all you guys are on the right track but I don't want to start taking things apart without talking to him then have him tell me he won't help since I opened up the covers or something.
