Chevy needs conquest sales, so maybe think of that when you post

First off I know lots of people love a particular brand, only buy one brand of pants, shoes, cookies, whatever. And I know there are a lot of dyed-in-the-wool Chevy owners here that have owned Chevy or GM products all there life. However, and is expected really, there is a fair amount of disdain (you see it on a lot of enthusiast boards so it’s nothing to do with Camaro5 specifically) whenever a non domestic car is mentioned (or domestic on an import owner board or regular brand on a luxury brand owner board).

What everyone may want to think about is if someone who hasn’t or even has been following the 2010 Camaro is looking for more information about it they will likely find their way here. GM needs conquest sales from more than just Ford and Dodge. It needs them from Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, VW and even Audi, BMW, Infiniti and so forth. So there may be people who have never owned a Big 3 product or haven’t in years for whatever reason who are here looking for more information and what type of community the Camaro has.

And while there are lots of open minded people here and as expected there is a heavy Chevy bias as there would be on any site dedicated to a particular car there are also people who make the site look like a bunch of rednecks. I’m not saying other sites are any better. However while all automakers really want new buyers for their cars GM, Ford and especially Chrysler NEED them to help them survive.

Just putting the thought out there.

Just look at my current vehicle, that should say it all. Never owned a GM product.

With the exception of my wife's car, I've only owned GM... in fact, I've only owned F-bodies. I can, however, see what you're saying. I don't think it's very wise to judge a car by its owners, but excessive D-baggery can definitely ruin it for some people.

What‽ What do you mean I was looking at Mustang owners the entire time I was typing that‽

I see what you are saying but if they are familiar with forums in general they should know what they are getting into. Go to a Nissan board and say something about GM and see the response you get. Same can be said of the other boards as well.

Oh absolutely, some are just ridiculous but then again while those manufacturers need/want sales GM really needs sales I guess is the point I was trying to make.

GM has made what appears to be a fantastic product in the Camaro that appeals to a wide demographic or car enthusiasts and not just traditional pony/muscle/chevy car owners. This car needs to be bought by lots of people so that they can see that yes domestic manufacturers can make a quality product and not just a cheaper one.

While I won’t let people sway me from buying a car I really want if there were two that were close and the community of one were asshats and other wasn’t well it could impact. Again not saying anyone here is an asshat.

Yup knew that already. They backhanded me when I wasn't looking at Chevy's, so it's working!! ... they are grabbing outside of the "once" Big Three.

ya can't get so excited or offended when someone puts down another brand. That's life and nothing your going to say will change it. It's like when I rode a harley f you rode anything else you weren't a real biker. It even got so bad that if you rode a harley it ad to be a certain Harley otherwise it was a girly bike. What ever. I've owned so many brands of cars I lost count. I rebuilt a 67 mustang, now I have 69 nova. I own a saturn and a pontiac solstice, along with a pontiac Vibe. What ever fits my needs at the time. THE TIME NOW HAPPENS TO BE THE CAMARO!!!!!!!!

Being a Harley V-Rod owner I hear you on that. HD riders look at the V-Rod like it's the black sheep of the family. Even though performance wise it blows away any of their other bikes. Oh, and the ride is smoother than the rest also.

For one it's a discussion forum. And open discussion is the purpose. So you really should never try to tell other people what to post about.

What's wrong with rednecks? Do you think GM takes the time of day to do a show in Austin if they are worried about crazy rednecks?

Sounds like a personal attack to me. I am not going to conform to whatever it is you think because I have held titles on Chevy's and I can say whatever I think. You don't tell rednecks like me what to say.

And get a sense of humor dude... You know like have a Coke and a smile.

I admire your loyalty, Design1stcode2nd. Really!!

I've been able to turn 2 "import-only" people, and one Ford guy to date....I'm not done!! (though it's awfully easy with the type of cars Detroit is putting out)

I prefer and for the most part have bought General Motors vehicles. Two exceptions were a 82 Ford Bronco and my current daily driver an 04 BMW 325xi.

The bronco? i don't know but everyone has to figure it out

The BMW? well I want to keep the daily driving mileage and wear and tear off my GMC Duramax, but I live in Utah and take quite a few trips year round to Idaho. The BMW offered me good fuel economy and AWD. Not sure i could have gotten that out of GM....
