I have had my 2011 SS in twice for this groaning/grinding issue with the rearend in the last 4 months. They have replace the diff fluid and friction modifier both times and it has gone away, but it is back again. I talked to the mech who does all the performance mods on the vettes and camaros and he is going to replace ALL the clutch pacs and the ring & pinnon and all seals & bearings for me this Friday to get rid of the noises. He was going to just put a whole new diff in, but said the same issue might pop up, so he is going to replace everything inside for me. Hopefully this will fix the problem as it has been annoying to date, new car and 4 times in the shop.. But I LOVE my camaro..

Well guys and gals,, the diff rebuild did NOT happen on Friday, seems as someone ordered the wrong parts, they were supposed to order the clutch pacs and all the bearings, gaskets and seals if any and instead ordered the entire carrier unit but forgot to order the bearings and gaskets to go with it. Bummer !! They said that the parts should be here by Wednesday as they put an " emergency" rush on them, but we will see with the holidays here, they are coming from Michigan they said. They also said it would be an all day job as the entire rearend has to come out to do the job and they will provide me with a loaner car. Getting frustrated with the issue but hopefully it will be fixed soon. I will keep you updated.Have a safe New Years..

I took mind in for this same problem, TSB #PO137 solved the noise /chatter problem.

I have had the gear lube changed twice (with the additive) at the dealership. It still comes back and I do a series of several tight, low-speed figure eights and it makes it go away. I think the additive has to work into the axles (pinions or splines?).

Kinda of a frustrating thing and the noise is a awful growling/grinding. I wonder about damage, but the figure eights do help.

Pretty close to going with Amsoil, Royal Purple or something other than the GM stuff...I am out of warranty and willing to try something else.

Hey STINGER, I hope this does it for ya and the noise doesn't come back. As I have stated above I had mine in 2 times before and after 2 months of noiseless driving, it came back, so the next option my mech said was to rebuild the diff as it might have had defective clutch pacs in it, so I am hoping this takes care of it. And the other thing he doesn't understand and I also, is the small amount of diff fluid that the rear holds that it is not enough for the rear and it is not getting lubed properly. My mustang held 2 bottles of fluid and the camaro only holds 1, seems kinda a small amount for a bigger rear with more HP..Anyway, good luck..

Well here we are, Thursday 12/29 and still the parts are not here to do my diff rebuild. I checked today at the dealership and they looked my order and seems as the bearings showed up Tuesday and the gaskets were NOT ordered at the time the bearings were, so they reordered them today and said they would be here tomorrow-12/30 from Michigan ?..We'll see. In the meantime my diff is making all kinds of noise and is quite annoying to say the least. Kinda sucs that someting so simple to get done gets screwed up and I have to deal with it. Good thing I have patience and LOVE my camaro.Keep you all posted on the progress.:(
