Unhappy Military Discount--Dealer says GM won't allow

Ok, so I ordered a 1SS on 14APR09. My dealer told me that GM is not allowing dealers to give the Military discount on the Camaro. Having read through this forum I am seeing this is just no so!

Who out there has received a military discount? Where can I go to get proof that GM is authorizing dealers to give military discount? How can I go about trying to get MY dealer to give me the Military discount?

If i can't get him to give me the military discount do you think I can get my non refundable deposit ($500.00) back on the grounds that he sold me the car under false pretenses in the first place and just order the car from another dealer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated because this is really making me mad! Its like, "Hey look at me, I Protect and serve on a mediocre salary , oh yes please screw me over some more thanks"....

Sigh, dealers man. I understand times are hard for everyone right now but lying about stuff like this just isn't cool. :(

Yeah, but I still don't get it. The discounts like GMS, supplier, military etc. doesn't GM reimburse the dealer for these discounts? So dealer gets same
price for car regardless?

Well if this is true than maybe he really just doesn't know. How can I prove to him that it is authorized?

Once again thanks for the help guys.

You said you read on here that people are getting the military discount.
Find the thread, talk to the buyer and contact his dealer if you must.

Here is what I got from the supplier discount people (pretty much the same thing) just yesterday...

"We have not received information on if the 2010 Camaro will be eligible. You will need to keep checking the website to see when or if it is eligible."

They only get reimbursed back up to invoice if the discount price is less than invoice (which it isn't). They lose out on the difference in MSRP and supplier/invoice.

Multiple dealers on here have stated that GM said in the January IDL that all discounts would be available at launch. Well it's launched and I have yet to see anything in writing stating that the Camaro will be eligible for these discounts. If you go to the Supplier/Military/College websites you have to sign up for the car before you buy it and they give you a code. All they have in their list is "Concept Camaro". You could always try registering for that and taking that to your dealer. Chances are they'll laugh and say that doesn't count. But who knows.....

It's up to the individual dealer as to rather or not they except military discount not GM. I'm in the same boat.

It's really two fold... GM has to honor it and then it's up to the dealer. Right now there's no evidence GM is honoring it. But then again, since the dealer doesn't get any money out of it whether GM is honoring it or not, I'm not sure it really matters.

Show me. And if that's the case, how come GM's supplier discount people don't know that it's available? And how come it still says "Concept Camaro" on the site instead of "All New 2010 Camaro" like it does for the equinox, etc?

I have a certificate for a military discount that I went online and applied for. I told my dealership about it and they said they would honor it. It even has an authorization number on it and expires 07/10/2009.

It is up to GM to OFFER it. Incentive look up by VIN determines what incentives GM is offering on a vehicle. It been a week or so since I peeked, but nothing was showing at that time.
