Just drove in this morning @ 28 degress no problems what so ever but then again I leave my house with plenty of time to get to work doing the speed limit. As long as you dont lose respect for the cars power you should be ok.

I totally agree but if your like me and dont drive like the native DMV driver (riding ass) then you should have plenty of time to stop lol.

A friend of mine that works for a Firestone dealer said it has something to do with the way they construct the sidewall of these tires. (taking his word because I haven't researched/googled it) They have nylon plates in the sidewall for strength and stability and when they are cold they are easily shattered thus causing the danger of blowing out the tire. This is also why they start "flat spotting" very easily too. I am sure there is a "fluff" factor in what Pirelli puts in their warranty. Its like anything else with a rating on it...weight limits on vehicles etc...

You can ( at your own risk ) drive on P Zero's at temps below 45 degrees. They become hard and are susceptible to damage from road hazards. My own personal rules on P Zero's are they are OK when cold ( down to 30 degrees ) if driven within reason, OK when wet but I won't drive on them in the cold ( under 45 degrees ) and wet. I drive gingerly on dry roads for 8 to 10 miles below 45 degrees so they build a bit a of heat. As a track/street compromise tire they are great, just be very careful in the cold and very very careful in the cold and wet.

I just drove from Blairsville, PA to Herndon, VA last night and it was hell on those roads. My tires don't really have much wear. I have a good amount of tread left.
At first start, the car seemed to want to steer to the right then went away after awhile. My steering wheel never shook/moved, so I doubt its an alignment issue. I had to come to a semi-sudden stop on a slick road and I did a half donut. Then when going to take off again, I kept spinning my tires on the semi-iced roads. Super frustrating. Finally dropped in 2nd and I was able to take off. AS SOON as I hit the MD border, I was completely fine on the dry surface, back to normal driving. These things suck in slick driving. I'm happy my commute is 1 block to work ;-) anything else and I'd have already forced myself for different tires. Think I might opt for some anyway... The P Zero tires are listed as "summer" tires in the Camaro publications. They will not be very snow worthy, just the nature of the beast. Also keep in mind, in Maryland if the State declares a "snow emergency" and you have a problem driving with the summer P Zero tires a ticket could be issued.

so when getting a winter set what is the advantage of getting new rims to go along with the winter tires? I dont really want to change my rims for the winter.

I know it takes a while for it to happen, but some people don't want to take that chance. My parents live in Upstate NY and after a few winters the finish just wears away and especially on my Dad's truck the rims start to get stained "almost like rust" I can't believe DE DOT salted the sh-- out of the roads with that light dusting we got yesterday. What a waste....looks like my ride will be parked until we get a good rain to clean off the roads. Shame too with the temps going up this weekend. :(

I have driven in the snow with summer tires in the past, and I will not do that again. This is why, I have another car to drive when the weather is cold and bad. Plus, the salt will rust your car out. I plan on having my Camaro for a long time, so I don't want it to rust out.

When I purchased a new set of Chrome wheels with new P/zero tires, I kept my factory polished wheels and tires.
I then sold my 4 used P/zero tires here on camaro5. I then mounted my new Toyo Proxes all season tires on the polished wheels. Now I have 2 full sets of tires & wheels for easy seasonal swaps. Chrome for summer. Polished for winter.
