Need Help Breaking 400!
I recently had ARH with x-pipe and hi flow cats installed as well as a CAI cold air intake and had it tuned all done by East Texas Muscle Cars. I put down 373.42 hp and 399.51 tq. I was wondering if there was anything that could set me over the 400 mark? It is an automatic which Ive been told makes putting a cam on very expensive...

Mustang dyno? Would think you would break 400 easy with that setup. As a m6 I dynoed 376 with just the CAI.

Ported Throttle body and and intake would put you close to that mark. I hit 450 with my mods but my car is an LS3.

Every dyno is a little different. If the number is important to you find one that reads higher than the rest. Me personally, quarter times tell everything that the dyno doesn't and equalizes all cars.

I was going to say the same thing lol.The dyno is a tuning tool. Don't pay too much attention to the numbers. Enjoy your new found HP! |

OP: There's not a whole lot of bolt-ons left to get you 27 more HP without breaking into the engine. A ported TB might get you 5 or so HP. People will quote a VVT cam that won't cost as much as converting to LS3 head hardware but once you factor in the price of a converter, it gets expensive nonetheless. If you do consider a aftermarket cam and converter, you're not far away from a top mount super charger. This is why many A6's opt for the supercharger instead of the NA route.

A scoop to go with your intake is only $75 and it will give you a couple probably

M6 is no more than 30whp over the Auto's... there is a little more drive train loss in the auto and the 4th gear on the M6 is closer to a 1:1 ratio which explains the 30 difference.. Also like the other post it's the track time not the dyno... the Auto's will turn faster times anyways.

mustang dyno's are anywhere from 30-50 hp difference than dyno jet which is what almost everyone on here is using with the high numbers. I ran a 442 rwhp on a mustang dyno then turned around 2 weeks later put it on a dyno jet and almost broke 500. Goes to show you dyno numbers really don't mean a dang thing just for looks. They guys are right 1/4 times mean something. That and the occasional 40 mph roll haha

There's a huge dyno thread on the C5 forum. If you peruse that thread, I think you'll be very happy with the numbers you're getting. Very few bolt on l99s pull over 400 rwhp.

The numbers sound right for where you are at with the L99.. maybe 5-10 more give or take...
I have the mods you have and ported TB and VVT cam will be next. Like silly goose said, A conversion with stall, pump after install and tune will easily push you in 4-5k range. However, the VVT can be done cheaper even with the supporting pump and stall it should keep you closer to 2.5-3k.
