here are a few photos through the install. nothing mind bottling...just thought i'd share. also added them to the main page. the only thing that was a trick was the install with the rear bolt. insert the rear of the IM with the insulators attached (gasket maker) and the rear bolt in position. the front of the IM will be angled up allowing for the bolt to rock in to place underneath the wiper cowl...hope that makes sense. either way, im sure you'll figure it out.

O.K. Rear bolt idea sounds great!

So the bolts in your test kit were too long without enuff thread?

The amount of thread seems to be fixed, but mine still measure 155mm in length. Think that will be an issue?

Really like the way you secured the insulator til the gasket maker set-up.
Did you re-use the original gasket on bottom, or is that a new one?
Also, did you use any gasket maker or RTV on the orig. gasket?

Thank you very much! The pics are gonna help greatly!
Think the wife is gonna work tomorrow- forget the paint, bring on the power!

yeah...the bolts were too long so i cut em shorter and re-threaded the bolts. its possible the bolts weren't too long, but they weren't threaded enough for the bolts to seat all the way. i would definitely do a test fit before getting everything ready to install and being like...WTF?! if you do have to re-thread the bolts and the wife is gone you might find yourself ...

the OEM gasket worked fine, used it on the bottom since it was easier to secure the insulator to the IM, fewer moving pieces when trying to put it back together. it does need a little modification though which is pretty obvious, cutting the nub off and removing the alignment nipple.

have fun bro...you're going to enjoy it!

That's just what I was going to say: "Now the Fun begins!"

Except I spoke too soon- wife's not working. Fun's gonna have to wait!!

I'll do it soon though and after a few drive cycles, I'll see if Vince thinks any tune updates are needed.

Thanks again!

Hopefully not too long

On another note thanks for the feedback from everyone. We certainly will be taking it on board, which can only be a good thing for fellow V6 enthusiasts, myself included

Looks like 2012 will be an awesome year for the LLT/LFX considering all of the weird and wonderful stuff proposed/released by various vendors this year, which most certainly is to be respected regardless.

Exciting times ahead for sure

Best Regards,
Steve

Finally! Steve, and mace, welcome aboard now officially!

Ventmaster, Yes. one for the bottom and one for the top. For one side of the gasket you will have to break off a few tabs. Can't remember which one it was but you will know when you install. Just search 2011 Camaro 3.6l intake manifold gasket on Google. You can find some on eBay for cheap also . If you can't find the part number just pm me and I will get it for you.

Have you made MACE aware of the bolt problem? Are they shipping the correct bolts now?

Yeah, it was part of the original test fit but not sure of their follow up. I'm sure you'll be good to go but your the first that I know of since test fitting...so just letting you know of the areas of difficulty I ran into.

Mach,

Hapisok has made us aware of the problem, therefore we've updated our bill of materials for this product accordingly.

I should be able to post up a pictorial list within a day or two

If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Kindest Regards,
Steve

Mace 25mm Insulator not working with hotchkis strut brace

I have the hotchkis strut tower brace and I bought the 25mm intake manifold insulator from Mace. After doing some measuring, i dont think these two would work together. The measuring Tape always ends up hitting the brace. So i assume the intake manafold would also hit the brace after the install. I think the 12mm insulator would be a perfect match. Still a tight fit though. My question is what am i losing in power with this switch? Thanks?

Do you think you can swing the 18mm, as can happily exchange the 25mm item for both a 6 and a 12mm item? I'm easy

Otherwise the 12mm item would still work well, though gains won't be as strong down low.

Will you still be happy with the 12mm item? Well even when the 6mm manifold insulators are fitted on their Commodores here people are quite happy with them, so I genuinely do believe that you'll be happy with the 12mm item.

Hope this helps

Kindest Regards,
Steve
