It's for safety. Also - it adds weight, along with all the other safety gear and telemetry equipment, so, it seems to me they balance out pretty well.

So, it doesn't make the car more rigid?

Have you EVER had a car with a roll cage?

Maybe you might find more in common with another Forum for the car you proudly display...

I still don't understand how 4-seconds is not a big deal at a track. I don't see how a car that inspires confidence IN A PRO driver is not a big deal. I'm not sure how a car this price competes with cars costing lots more is not a big deal.

I guess you just can't make everyone happy.

roll cage = makes a car more rigid = helps cornering to a degree but helps nonetheless.

we are way off topic now.

The 2012 ZR1 was run at Nurburgring on 9 June 2011.

The Non Stock Equipment is data monitoring equipment that will tend to make the test vehicle heavier than a stock vehicle.

The roll cage is used for safety purposes and is required by Chevrolet to run at Nurburgring.

Considering Corvette has an aluminum frame manufactured by Dana Corp (last I heard), I'd say that it's probably a pretty solid foundation.

If I ask if you've ever owned a CAMARO, does that mean you have no business posting in a CAMARO Forum?

Let's get back on topic. You're posts are coming across as trolling. Your allegence is clear. You might want to review the rules before posting more.

Only hype so far on GT500 is hp and top speed

I was expecting the ZL1 to be faster in straight line, but then again GM said the L99 would be faster than LS3 in 0-60 before they were released and we all know hype doesn`t always mean right :(

You might want to wait to make such assessments until both cars meet at the same track with the same professional driver on the same day.

Agreed - but the extra weight of the cage, and the rest of the equipment work a little against performance, so I don't think it's a stretch to say that some of any improvement from the cage is lost, no?

Want me to leave, just say so.

Both the GTR and ZR1 are similarly priced.

Here you are trying to tell me that a Modified ZR1 ran 4 seconds faster than a STOCK GTR, and are trying to convince me the tires, cage and other equipment is purely for safety.

You never answered my question.

Have you ever owned a car with a Roll cage. Have you ever felt the before and after difference?

Sorry to say, but at least on those other "forums" there are not 45 threads of how crappy Camaro's are, and how badly Chevy will get owned. I've only seen 4-5 in depth discussions.

Unlike here, where there are dozens of threads talking about how crappy Crustangs, Mustakes, Mistakes, Shitstangs, Rustangs really are.

Are you Camaro enthusiasts, or car enthusiasts? Big difference bewteen the two.

You seem to conveniently forget how HARD and SWEATY the Pro driver said the Boss 302 was. How it was hard to drive and deprived him of the confidence the ZL1 gave him! TA DA!

Let's get back on topic. You're posts are coming across as trolling. Your allegence is clear. You might want to review the rules before posting more.

If you want to threaten me and insinuate something, do it more directly.

After speaking with another Mod on this site via PM, he stated he went through all of my posts, and it's clear I am not a troll.

I am here because I'm an enthusiast, and have the utmost respect and love for all cars. Me owning a Mustang has nothing to do with my "allegiance and trolling". It's the car I drive 20K miles a year, and bring to the track every now and again, and the car I am able to afford on my budget and I like. Nothing more.

Please check all of my 150ish posts. Have I ever ONCE stated the Mustang is better in any way? No.

Do I like the fact that you moderators discriminate against Non-Camaro owners, yet your owners can call us names, make fun of our car to no end, and not get any kind of slap on the wrist, yet you threaten us? No, I don't like it.

Again, if you want me to leave, I will leave. Glad to know this is a Camaro site where bashing of competitors is fine, and car enthusiasts are not allowed to post a fair opinion.
