I am betting I will be able to run close to 15psi with my CTS-V for quite a long time at 650 to the wheels also.

UMMM... nope.. if it is at 580hp now at 8-9 psi.. right?? at 20hp per PSI that would be 700 hp... add'n in that 6psi. with the right tune and fule I am sure it will take it. I am sure you can add maybe 2 psi with out swaping any tuning.. GM will expect hot roders to swap pullys... so 620 with nothing but a pully swap...

I was able to add 3psi to my GTP before it needed a tune... I did have to put in a high flow cat though.. it did not like the extra boost with the restricted exhaust.

So you think 40hp with only 2lbs of boost (on a 1.9L blower)??? ohhh boy. Maybe a big turbo... or LARGE blower in its peak efficiency range.

The only thing I will say. Chevy should had added forged pistons and rods to the ZL1. Just for the simple fact that they and we all know 1 out of 2 owners will be upping the power.... other than that I am in LOVE.... lol

In cases like this the bigger blower wins the war. Once you pass a engines natural horsepower ability using forced induction you then go to the blowers horsepower ability. In this case the GT500 has a bigger blower running the 2.3L Eaton set up while the ZL1 has the 1.9L. It clearly has the advantage. The advantage of more displacement on a boosted engine means you can run less boost and obtain the same power levels. Lower boost levels make fore a safer and easier to tune vehicle. A factory box stock car running 15PSI is pretty insane but the GT500 is all forged....that helps too.
I'm sure Magnacharger and Whipple will have upgrades available shortly have the ZL1 hits the market.

Depends on the engine.. Josh said a cobra blower makes about 20 hp per pound.. "Dyno speed racing tunner."

yes that is a + or - value. could be 15 hp could be 25. depends.

my GTP was only about 10 hp per LB of boost.

You normaly get more hp per LB at the start and then the number decreases as you add more... so it might get 30 hp from 1 LB and then 25 from the 2 lb and then 20 from the 3lb and so on...

YES SIR.. the 1.9 will start to struggle... and run out of steam and start to just make heat way before the 2.3.... thats why my friends cobra did not like the 18psi.. it was all heat...

On the blower I have yes it is possible. On the stock eaton... no. If this were the case when I pullied mine on the eaton I would have gained ~100rwhp going from 10 to 15 psi.

Correct. just depends on the blower. I was just going of what Josh told me. I did not think it was quite that much. maybe 20 for the first psi and droping from there. after too much the blower becomes a heat pump and starts pulling more and more timing. which = less power..

I am fairly sure if i remember correctly. the 20 hp per 1 lb starts at 0 psi.. but once you get to like 9 psi to 12 psi the blower effecience drops drasticly. till you swap to say a screw style. Kenny bell, wipple and so on...

2011 GT500's are getting roughly 70-75rwhp by going with 3-4lbs. boost and tune.

I would guess tune only is picking up 30 or so hp, so boost you would be looking at 7-8 hp per lb. of boost.
That's with the stock 2.1L Eaton.

All this blower talk. Would a Turbo be more efficient than a blower? Just my thought. I wonder if any one is going to make a manifold to Turbo the zl1.

It should be about the same for the ZL1.
