the pony car segment really upped the ante as a whole!! id like to see a comeback of muscle cars in the near future (bigger/midsize car w/top line engine) to compete with them! The Charger is the only one that really comes to mind.

Hello all..... Sheriff's back in town.
![]() Can I ask somebody to explain how in the heck anyone can say the ZL1's been over-hyped with a straight-face??? ![]() If some are getting hung-up on the Boss Comparison...consider something (if you haven't already) Boss LS= Ford's "Best Mustang" as attributed by the same people reviewing the ZL1. It's as fast or faster than the current GT500 around road-courses. ZL1 = Chevy's advertised track-car Camaro. WHY WOULDN'T YOU COMPARE THE TWO?!?! And how many people (even Camaro fans) assumed the Z wouldn't be able to outrun a Boss Laguna Seca on a track? hmmm...but it did... Sorry -- I don't buy it. ZL1 was adequately hyped, imvho.

As I wrote earlier, the details don't really matter. What matters are head to head comparisons of the Mustang Boss and GT500. Forget about the Camaro. If there isn't a big difference between the boss and GT500 on track, and the consensus is there isn't, then adding more HP isn't the answer, is it? |

1:41 was the time around the Inde Motorsports track. I double-checked...it would seem that website is inaccurate. |

A Z06 will shred tires at almost any speed and the ZR1 more so. Anyone that has a chance to drive a ZR1 with the stability and traction control off will understand why I am skeptical of a 650 HP Mustang being faster than a BOSS on a road course. Sideways is not the fast way around the track. Why stop at 650, why not a 1,000 or more? Making HP is one thing. Putting it down is another. This isn't a slap at Ford or the Mustang. It is the rear tire contact patch slapping us in the face with a dose of reality. I am on hopium. I still think Chevy will deliver a Z/28 5th Gen and that is definitely a different thread. |

wow what a thread.
I do agree the zl1 hasn't lived up to hype with what we know thus far, but what ever does. Too me gm hasn't fixed the main problem for a track car and thats weight. For 54k is the zl1 a good deal? Sure i guess it is and a ferarri for its 150k+ is a good deal to some car buyers as well. Depends on how much money ya have and how much ya wanna blow it. Took a boosted track car against a n/a track car. Throw a s/c on that boss and i bet that'd be a fun head to head comparison. This would show us how much gm's theories do against fords imo.
