Magnaflow res x was a big mistake

Well I got my res x pipe installed last Thursday and I hate it. I didn't realize that it would quite my car to almost stock. It does not sound deep at all it sound more like a damm tuner than a muscle car. Before on the highway it had a nice rumble but now I have a constant humming noise that drives me crazy and gives me a headache. Before I had a lil cabin vibration but now it like a 8.5 earthquake. Before my car sounded like a beast that would crackle and pop. It truly sounded bad ass but now it sounds horrible in my opinion. If the the res x pipe elimanates rasp then I love rasp. I am one of those guy that believes your exhuast isnt good unless u can't hear anything else. I am going to the muffler shop tmrw to have them put my h-pipe put back in. I want to right this because so far everyone loves there res x pipe and from the things I have read on here it like the most awesome invention ever to for or v6's exhuast. And idk the res x pipe might work great for people that like there car quite but I hate my car to be quite.

Sorry to hear about that:( what type of exhaust do you have?

Here is my camaro with obx long tube, mangnaflow res xpipe, and flowmaster. There's no rasp, and it's not quiet but not super loud either. It's just right.

Was your setup raspy before the res x?

I just seen your sig and noticed you have a muffler delete which mean the res xpipe becomes the source of your exhaust instead of working as a supporting mod.

My exhaust setup is BBK longtube header with high flow cats magnaflow res x pipe ( will go back to being h pipe tmrw) stock res and no mufflers. Just to get a idea of how loud is was when I would rev my car in a parking lot before the res x I would set off at least 5 car alarms. I could set alarms off just my starting my car. It was a loud as Hell and I want my beast back. If u heard it ow it is now u would probably say it was loud but not in my opion. U can ask Lgndryhr how loud it is he have heard it in person. And that's how I would discribe your exhaust not super loud or quiet. But I like mine super loud and I didn't realize how much I liked my car super loud untill it wasn't super loud.

Everyone has different opinions and I knew there would eventually be someone here regretting their purchase of a resonated X.

But when you like an exhaust so loud that you enjoy setting off as many car alarms as you can possibly set off why even get an X in the first place?

Sorry it didn't work out for you...and I'm sorry if I was one of the people who might have helped talk you into getting one.

I'm still a huge fan of the resonated X, and when used in conjunction with the proper setup, it (to me) is a fantatic addition.

look at my set up! Mine is loud as hell! Sounds amazing and has lots of rumble. It was too quite with flows so I went to muffler delete.

Yea idk y I got it but I just thought that it would get rid of the rasp but it would still be loud. Like u said eveyone has there own idea of what is loud and what is quite or what sounds good or what sounds bad. But o well it will be fixed tmrw.

At least you tried it and now you know what you want. If you like to set off car alarms then the res x is def not a good choice. I personally can't stand drone, rasp, or anything that might draw attention every time I press on the gas. I like it to be quiet when just driving normally but growl when I push her keep us posted.

So sorry that it didn't work out for you. My guess would be since you have the BBK cats and muffler delete is why the X pipe did not work for you. Those of us who went with the OBX headers which has a cat delete we need the X pipe to help the sound work better.

I'm getting my BBKs put on tomorrow morning. I'm gonna give it a week and see how I like the BBK w/ cats, and MBRP catback. If it's too much, I'll add the res-x. I already have the res-x lying around anyway.

Well the Beast is Back lol I got the magnaflow res x pipe taken out and the h pipe put back in and there is a big smile on my face because it sounds awesome I'm never going to change my exhaust again.

Here is a vid of when I had the x pipe on.

And here is how it sounds with the h pipe back on.
