Beltronics Vector V940. I dont expect this thing to save me from the ticket on the highway, most state troopers here use lazer.

But is saved me a bunch of times on the back roads, where local police do not shut radar off at all, or just clocked someone else in front of me. X and Ka bands waves go pretty far. Defiantly worth 150 I payed for it.

I feel for all of you in the laser areas, I'm so glad most of Florida is still on Ka or K band.

BOth passport and v1's are the best. Although the v1 community doesnt like to admit it!!!!!

K40 RL360 front and rear radar detector w/ front and rear active laser jamming.
And minimal visual cues that you have an ESM/ECM suite onboard.

Puts you in a whole different ballpark financially, but you DID say "the best."

Otherwise, K40, Passport/Escort, or Valentine portables; any of the three will do well on radar. And add a good laser jammer.

Yes the K40 is the BEST, lol. And you are right, that is what everyone should have said, but few people want to spend a couple grand on a radar/laser detector jammer system! So I think that V1 and the top Passports are equal, each tests slightly better in one area or another but overall they are about equal. I still think that the mid level Beltronics detectors such as the Vector 955 (excluding the wireless one) are a better buy. From what I read the V1 and Passport can give just slightly better notice of a radar, but barely longer than a human reaction at 85 MPH. Basically the same, I don't knock the one who choose to spend so much more for the passport or v1 but I don't see the value for me.

Now any one buying any price level of Rocky Mountain Radars needs to do some research, the most expensive detectors (K40 excluded) and the only thing they do very well is market. Definitely not good at detecting radar!

I dont know why, but for some reason when i used a detector i seemed to get more tickets...LOL! Now i use my 26 year Military now retired calibrated eye ball....if i could spot an IED i can spot a LEO...LOL!
