As was listed on here yesterday, the Camaro SS provides you the cheapest horsepower per dollar ratio of any car. THAT is their goal. Not having seats that massage your butt and peel and feed you grapes while you watch TV on your 47 inch flip down nav screen.

If you want a nicer interior, buy a car with a nicer interior; or better yet: Spend the money you saved buying the Camaro instead of a 370z and get your interior upgraded in the aftermarket.

I never understood fan-boyisms between Ford and Chevy. Maybe way back when it meant something, but now, in this day and age, with what these companies are going through, and how they're almost dependent on each others reputation ("American Car-Makers") to survive, I just don't get it.

I mean c'mon, I understand the Camaro's interior has a more playful and adolescent essence that could make some of the Muscle-Car purists happy, but the Mustangs is leaps and bounds ahead of it in terms of refinement and maturity.... Again, I know some of you don't want that, but many people do, even in performance and/or Pony Cars.

I used to be a big Mustang guy, but am in no way going to say the Mustang is superior to the 'Maro right now, except interior-wise. Screw "brand loyalty".

IMO GM did a masterful job on the exterior, just the right heritage cues, but more modern than anything else....The inside looks way too much like a plastic-ized 70's old-schooler IMO, just way too retro-gimmicky.

We will REALLY know the publics feelings when Sales numbers start coming through though, and I will say if the Mustang does outsell it, interior or not, I'd be pretty damned surprised.

well...
"you cant have you cake and eat it too"
cliche i know, and i dont agree.
but for the people who like the car, but not the interior...
you cant have an amazing pony car, and the interior of a bentley.

I think they were aggressive with the interior design, but I appreciate that more than the approach of the Challenger, which just seems too dull for such a badass car. I like the Mustang interior, but in my opinion, the Camaro is fresher and goes well with the overall attitude of the car very well. I am sure some people would rather a more subdued interior, but plenty of people really appreciate the creativity that was put into the Camaro interior.

I like it

Not having actually sat in the Camaro, but studying a zillion pictures I believe that it has a lot of character. I've sat in all of the competition at car shows and was quite frankly bored. They all seem to look alike, not the case with the new Camaro. It definitely stands out especially lit up at night. I hope to have mine next month and my hunch is I won't be disappointed. IMO

In-dash GPS is stupid. I will never understand why people would want it. With On Star and pretty much every cell phone including GPS these days, why would you want to lock your car in time like that? Something so high tech will quickly be outdated and expensive or almost impossible to update.
You sound like my dealer. He says cars with Navi are worth less later on than the one's without it. Yeah ok. Sorry but a map is a map. How often do the roads change in your area? In Boston they've been the same for 100 years so I don't see how having Navi would be quickly outdated. And you can get updated map DVD's if you live in an area that's constantly building new roads.

And it's not a bright idea to be looking at your cell phone for directions when driving.

Did you expect the dash to be leather wrapped? Not worried about sun damage? The door panels are all plastic... just like in the GM trucks. Would you prefer an upholstered door? I think it's fine... and it's practical.

The seats are nice... leather... heated... and the back seats - I don't plan on ever riding with more than myself and one other person (maybe on the rare occasion), so that doesn't concern me.

The steering wheel is big, and the controls are set deep towards the center... but that's ok, I've got big hands.

I think the AC/Heater control panel and the stereo controls are highly practical. One thing that I would have liked to have seen was dual-zone climate control. I know my old lady is gonna be bitching at me for having it so cold all the time! BUT - she can just turn on the heater for her seat.

Navigation would have been nice... but I think it takes away from the style of the car. I'm very happy with the stereo interface. I'm sure later models will be offered with navigation. I would have liked it, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. After driving the ol' lady's GMC SIERRA across California, I'm very happy with everything about it.

The 2010 Camaro is about style... MUSCLE... class... and a lil bit of luxury accompanied by technology. This is the first 21st Century sports car that I give a damn about.

...it would be bad-ass to get my hands on one of the original concepts though, even if it was just for show and cruising at 25mph 'cause of all the crap on it that isn't "legal" or "practical".

Does anyone here remember the 80's. The cars and trucks had the soft plastic on the dash and doors, and what happened, the plastic started to crack and split. Hard plastics are going to last longer and if you do it right, never crack. I love my interior, I wouldn't want soft plastics, because their just going to crack quicker than a hard plastic.

STOP WHINING!!!!!

It seems to me that the Mustang and Challenger designers went with a more timid design. With the challenger it was by necessity to keep development cost and time down they swiped the interior from another car. With Ford they just look like they went with it by design so they could make sure that the design wasn't too radical, much like their exterior and powertrain.

The Camaro has a unique look on the outside, and frankly if the interior was as "run of the mill" as the other two, it would look really out of place. Like it was an afterthought or borrowed from a family sedan.

About the only thing they can improve is the materials, and that's only for soft-touch, and maybe a few trim pieces... other than that they nailed the style and it fits the car perfectly and is as unique as the outside. That's the most important part.

Just remember that you won't find this much horsepower for this cheap anywhere else any time soon
Not new but 38k will buy you a very nice 2007 Corvette with less than 15000 miles on it..

I finally got to sit in a 1LT RS last week (almost got into an accident flipping a u-turn after seeing it at the dealership) and I was presently surprised by the interior. The fit/finish was flawless and even the the IP was so-called 'hard plastic', it's got an alomost rubbery texture that feels far from cheap. The only place you find the cheap stuff is on places you don't come in contact with like the pillars, inside the stoarage bin and some door pieces. The quality plastic even runs along the top of th doors and their handles. I remember sitting in the 2010 Mustang at the L.A. Auto Show and thinking to myself... this IP is going to crack after a year in the sun... I don't see such problems occuring with the Camaro's materials. Also, aside from the IP hard plastic is EVERYWHERE on the Mustang... I was disapointed whn I found it on the bottom of the windows where arm-chaffing is sure to follow. The controls also feel very smooth and robust, I don't imagine missing knobs will be an issue on this car.

As far as the design, I was surprised there also... after looking at pics for so long I was taken aback by how bold and non-cartoonish the interior felt, especially the head-unit. The guage clusters were a bit smaller than I imagined but they still had a very strong presence. The cloth seats also felt great and I wasnt bothered by the cloth on the IP like i thought I would be.

To sum it up... from the inside the car just felt right (and I should know... I molested it for about an hour). The interior is spartan and straight to the point, but it oozes personality and individuality (kinda like me!). I've stated this before, the Mustang interior is nice but woefully uninspired and uninspiring. Chally? I've seen it before, feels wholly parts bin and cavernous. It's been said by other members on here of all shapes and sizes that the Camaro seems to fit them like a glove and after my time with it I most definitely agree.

That's my 2 cents
