I am sure the rest of the country will have something like this also...
rl

DATE: March 23, 2009
CC:

SUBJECT: New England Camaro Challenge

The New England Camaro Challenge is right around the corner. The sweepstakes will run on TV, on the internet and in your dealership from March 20-April 30, 2009 with an in dealership party to announce the Grand Prize winner of a 2010 Camaro on May 6, 2009, the National launch of the Camaro.

The sweepstakes timeline is as follows:

March 20 – Scheduled and added value media (on the following stations: Boston - WCVB, WBZ, WHDH, WLVI, WSBK, NESN, WMUR & Cable; Burlington - WPTZ; Hartford - WTNH, WVIT, WFSB; Maine - WVII, WFVX, WPFO, WCSH, WABI; Providence - WPRI, WNAC, WJAR, WLNE, WLWC, additional may be added as the promotion goes on) begins to direct consumers to www.newenglandcamarochallenge.com. Consumers will go to that website to enter their zip code and find the closest LMA dealership to them to register to win a 2010 Camaro. They will print out a sheet that has the five closest dealers to them and their registration code. When the consumer comes into your dealership, they will work with the sales staff to enter the sweepstakes.

Consumer Registration at the dealership – Sales staff to go to http://www.newenglandcamarochallenge.com/login.aspx where you will find a login screen to where you will enter the consumer registration code. This six digit code should be entered as the username and the password is your BAC code. The information that the consumer pre-registered on the site will be populated and your staff will ask the additional questions that are on the screen (BAC card information) to complete the registration.

After the consumer registers - they will receive an email thanking them for registering and inviting them to the Camaro Premiere Party on May 6, 2009 in your dealership to see the unveiling of the 2010 Camaro and a chance to win the sweepstakes various prizes (Camaro, Finalist Prizes (six), Second Chance prize (1)). Everyone who enters will have a chance to win something on May 6, 2009.

April 30 – Last day to enter sweepstakes online.

May 1 – Seven (7) Finalists (one from each of the New England DMAs) are chosen and contacted, as well as the dealership where they registered. These finalists must be in dealership on May 6 to win the Camaro.

May 4 – Consumers will receive another email reminding them to be in dealership on May 6 for the unveiling of the Camaro and for the LIVE (aired on NESN) drawing for the 2010 Camaro.

May 6 – Camaro Premiere party to be held in dealerships. Dealerships are encouraged to make a party of it. There will be a chance for everyone who entered the sweepstakes to win a prize valued at $1000, and the winner of the 2010 Camaro will be chosen and announced LIVE on NESN (time currently TBD but sometime between 4-7pm).

So, what time are they going to pick finalists? It seems like nobody knew about this, which makes me feel lucky.

It suggested Cargill Chevrolet in Putnamn, CT as one of the dealers where I could go to sign up. They claimed that they've never heard of it and then one guy said that it says it was over last year. I then went to Hurd Chevrolet in Johnston, RI and the guy saw me carrying the prinout and knew just what I was there for.

I assume so. They confirmed my entry via email. I hope they'll send an email saying that I'm a finalist, but if they don't, I hope they'll at least send one saying I'm not.

They're giving a 1LT away.

Well, apparently they are not letting people know who the Semi-Finalists are. You just have to show up to your dealer and wait around to see if you won or not.

Lame.

Edit -

I guess better odds for those who actually go to their dealers' party that evening. Must be present to win.

From the rules:
Quote:
Semi-Finalist Selection: Seven (7) potential semi-finalists will be drawn on May 1st, 2009, from among all eligible entries of all participating dealerships combined. Each potential semi-finalist must confirm his/her eligibility, and indicate his/her willingness and ability to accept the Grand Prize, if selected as the winner. If a potential finalist is ineligible, does not comply with these Official Rules, or does not wish to accept the prize as offered, he/she will be disqualified and, at Administrator’s discretion, an alternate finalist will be randomly selected for the applicable dealership, time permitting.

Winner Selection: A random drawing will be held on or about TBD ET (Eastern Standard Time) on May 6, 2009, from among all eligible Semi-Finalists selected at all participating dealerships. A total of one (1) potential winner will be selected. Potential winner must be present at his/her “Camaro Party” on May 6, 2009 at the dealership they entered at to be eligible. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible finalists. Potential winner will be required to execute and return an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release, and, where lawful, a publicity release and a W-9 form within three (3) days of date of issuance.
Sure sounds like they're going to contact finalists to confirm their availability, then they expect only the finalists to be at the dealer, then they'll confirm that the winner can take the car.
