I used splash guards adn after 35oo miles not a single chip. That was not the case with my hood and windshield. I would clear bra the hood and splash guards to protect rockers--

Get all three clear 3m bra on front and GM mud flaps to match and 3m in the gill area
So you repaint and re 3m five years down the road the bumper at a cost of 400 to paint and 150 to 3m. Over 60 months you got a front end that's bullet proof looks good and costs you 9 dollars a month to maintain on your investment

Put a clear bra on the front, side mirrors, headlights, daytime driving lights and gill area. Does not show, bugs wipe off and no rock dings at all.

I went with both as soon as I got the car. Clear bra on front, mirrors, A-pillars, Door cups and edges. The splash guards definitely help (no chips on the sides at all). Also added Headlight Armor to all the front lights. Wish I could put clear film on the windshield; already got a star by the VIN plate...

I didnt like how it changed the look of my car at first when I added the flaps, but they are much needed and def help protect... Now im really ok with it. Just had to get used to it I think. as long as they are the molded gm painted to match the really blend in for the most part

Prior to ordering my RJT, I had the good fortune to talk with a yellow RS owner of 1 year. She pointed out the chips on the bumper and side gills (fender in front of the rear tires). I never noticed the little flair out of the rear fender is just enough to catch stones & debris. Well, that convinced me the high expense of paint protection film and GM splash guards was going to be worth it. Especially since my RS is a daily driver and I knew I’d die just a little bit inside with each chip I’d find. (just kidding…but only little)

In addition to minimizing paint chips, BONUS, how about protection from a side swipe!! Found this damage on the front fender. It looked bad & I assumed body parts & paint were going to be needed. At the insurance/repair shop (GEICO experience was awesome), the adjuster pulled back the paint film and NO paint damage! There's a barely visible scuff on the marker light lens but since I’m getting LED side marker lights, I took the cash allowance instead of replacing the lens.

So yup, I’m satisfied with my decision to install paint protection film (Avery Nano Fusion) and splash guards.
Good luck 5G

I like the looks of the splash guards.. My car had them i installed even before it was picked up.. not one single chip on it. I am very cautious about following people too so there are actually no chips on the car anywhere.. now I only have 6,200 miles on it but I do my best.... I would do the splashguards even if they were twice the price....

I'd recommend clear bra. Just do your homework, research all that you can, and go with what you feel is best and will make you happy. Best of luck with whatever you get.

Splash gaurds/mud flaps was a must for me, living on a gravel road I made it 23,000 miles so far and no chips..none. Working in the avaition field I would rather do pre preventive repair instead of post "OMG" where did that chip come from. Just made my own out of T-3 aluminum painted to match and added the SS logo. Time 1 hr cost around $6

clear bra is expensive but if you get a good installer and a good product, you really won't think twice about it after it has been done. i also had the rear gills done and they look great 4 months later.
