The ZL1 is based on the SS, with some upgrades to the same motor, upgrades to the same suspension, upgrades to the same tranny. It's not a re-design of the Camaro dude. Just look around you can get ZL1 parts and put them on an SS from several vendors. What's does that say to you?

If you don't agree that okay, but don't make up dumb stuff for the sake of disagreeing.

Unlike you I don't belive Ford executives to be complete morons (they didn't take any bailout dollars are are doing very well), so my "expectation" is that they will make sure they can use that extra 90hp. otherwise you're correct it's useless. The Boss 302 seemed to fair quite well against the ZL1 with some upgrades to the GT500 and 90hp. Is it so un-believable it will beat the ZL1 on the track? Be "honest" for once.

I know a lot of people that use their Ferraris as grocery getters too. So what? Are Ferraris grocery getters because moma bear gets oatmeal with it at the local Whole Foods? Whatever man.

I use my SS to go to work, and run errands to, but by far an SS is or was marketed as a regular car for moma bear.

You come accross to me as one of those guys that just like to be right "all the time" so just like hearing yourself speak or seeing your writings on-line. As some of the things you say are just plain rediculous.

I can say the ZL1 is a great vehicle, but it is not a grocery getter, neither is the SS (or expected to be), and definately not a GT500 or Challenger or Charger. Saying that is just plain loopy.

Answer #1: Yes I do. With the right suspension and an extra 90hp. you damn right I do.

Answer #2: I was totally un-aware that GM had a plant on the Nurem"burg[er]" in Germany. They must have some great BBQ's there.
Yawn.

Just curious, why does everyone keep quoting 90 more hp than the ZL1? Did I miss something, according to Ford, its 650hp. I know somebody mentioned Hot Rod dynoed the car and got 670hp, but is that an official number? Of course there are going to be some dynos that get more than 580hp from a stock ZL1 but the official SAE rating will always be 580hp. I dont mean this as a flame, just wondering if I missed something or an official press release about the HP rating moving to 670.

I recall reading there is an extra 70hp. past a certain RPM range, some special feature they embedded in the tune.

Why do you keep quoting an unofficial price?

How a vehicle is marketed is not necessarily relevant to how a particular individual intends to use said vehicle.

If one uses a Ferrari only as a daily driver to get groceries, it is, by definition, a grocery getter, regardless it how it was marketed.

A vehicle is a grocery getter if that is, in fact, what it is, regardless of make and model. A 1970 Hemi 'Cuda is a grocery getter, if that's how it is used. It seems that facts can appear loopy to some.

Everytime I do, I state ESTIMATE, I do not pretend that it is official. So far it the closest estimate we have to price as it is from a reputable mag (I realize these mags are always off a little, but we do not have anything else to go off). By the way, in case some of you missed it, Car and Driver estimates the BASE price of the GT500 will be $59k, ouch! As far as the HP rating, Ford's OFFICIAL website states 650hp, so where is 670hp coming from?

The dyno unless I'm mistaken. And that mag isn't anymore reputable than the rest.

I realize this, but nonetheless, it was printed in thier magazine as an estimate which I thought I would share. If they estimated the base price at $48k, every Ford fan would reference that price even though its still an estimate

That's why I said if I'm not mistaken as I have only heard about it and don't really have any desire to look for it.

An obvious play on words.
A fighter jet is not a commerical airplane simply if the pilot decides to charge someone a fee to take them on a joy simply because he uses it for that purpose.

Hotrod magazine march 2012 actual dyno...

"the dyno computer screen showing the proof. The 650 horsepower rating is at the maximum continuous rpm of 6250, but the redline is 7,000 at which point we saw 670-plus horsepower on the screen. But Ford probably doesn't want you to know that. In fact, we were asked to blur some of the proprietary data."

Of course you can deny it all day.
