Are you implying that GM didn't intend for customers to get groceries with their Camaros?

I understand that you believe the intended use takes precedence. I believe that it's appropriate to refer to a vehicle by how it is actually legally used.

The Camaro has many intended uses. The main one, I believe, was for use on public roads.

My analogy is quite different than yours given the legal use differences between the two which can't reasonably be disputed.

I'm not referring to a vehicles design intent or primary intended use. If a bus is used to get groceries, it is a grocery getter, by definition, regardless of the intent of its design and what its primary intended use was. You appear to be confusing design and primary intended use with actual legal use by the end user.

Yes, no one "needs" 400+ hp to get to the store. It's all about wants and desires rather than needs.

Yeah, it's halftime America. GM -- $7.6 Billion in net profit for 2011, and our second half is about to begin.

It will be interesting if their stick axle can make use of all that power, outside of the flat straights! I think ZL1 would definately hang in the corners, at least, but that's a lot of power to overcome. I know what I'd like to see happen

I was more commenting on the fact he called the Nurburgring Nuremburger, but yes Ford has been testing there as well.

Thats why cars are always tested together on the same day.
Good point. Factor in track layout, surface, driver and his mood, and on any given day either of these 2 cars could come out on top. Heck under the right conditions maybe my Boss isn't old news just yet.

I'm sorry! Nurburgurlgering Nuremburgler Nurburgring whatever! All I know is that's where the ZL1 was tested and it's one of the fastest cars ever there!

Step away from the keyboard and breathe. The ZL1 is fast, especially for the segment, but you're just misinformed.

A vehicle is a grocery getter if that is, in fact, what it is, regardless of make and model. A 1970 Hemi 'Cuda is a grocery getter, if that's how it is used. It seems that facts can appear loopy to some.
Grocery getter is not a statement of use, but in fact a designation of a type of car primarily designed for day to day use. As a marketer for Nissan, Toyota, Porsche, and others over my 25 year ad career, I can assure you the term grocery getter was never ment to apply to a sports car or coupe of any type. You are simply being pedantic.

Wasn't the Mag's estimate "under 60". I also agree we should be quoted official HP numbers. My bet is both cars have some in reserve whether the number is understated or whether than can do short bursts at a higher RPM.
