2012 SS A6 with 20" drag radials- what will it run

Just got a 2012 SS with the A6/L99 combo. On good weather days my local track is about 1700DA-2500DA.

I'm thinking about buying a set of MT 20" ET Street Radials and putting them on my stock wheels for now.

Other than radials, its 100% stock.

What do you think it will run with just the radials?

I'm hoping 12.9x

At that DA (1700 - 2500 ft) I would say low 13s. I dought you can pull a 12.9 in that DA (stock with drag radials).

The drag radials will not help all that much on a stock L99 A6. From my experience, the stock Pirellis hook up fine for a stock L99.

I agree, on a sticky track it might not spin at all on stock rubber. My friends 6.0 auto GTO dead hooked on stock tires on a good track. I would get headers and a intake first. Or get a 3600 stall and put tires on it for a super sleeper... that might get you mid 12s or better.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm wanting to leave it stock because I got several other "race cars". But I did want to run the LSX Gen5 series this year and trying to figure out what index to run the car in.

As soon as the tracks open up I'm going to go test and see how it does on a prepped track. Bradenton elevation is 25ft I believe, so it should run a little better down there if the weather is good.

Figured I could race the series this year while Im finishing my stock suspension build and have some fun. So if it won't run 13.0's or better I will have to run 13.50.

So I may do weight reduction like wheels, carbon hood, and radials. But I have to see what it runs first before I know what I need to be consistent.

Sounds like will have a another one soon In 25ft DA with nice weather you should be in the 12s easy. I race in 2000-3000ft in summer and was still running 12.70s with just headers.

I'm hoping to get some runs in soon to see what it will do. I talked to the service manager at the dealership today and he said if I put headers on it would only void the exhaust warranty and not the powertrain.

Only problem, is that I would really want to tune the car if I put headers on it. Unless the commanded AFR in the stock tune will still be plenty safe. So for now, it gonna be bone stock until I get some MT radials.

Its very hard not putting a 100hp wet plate kit on it and putting a tune it in. But I'm holding out on voiding the powertrain warranty as long as I can. Man its a struggle.

So I got my fingers crossed I broke it in right and it runs high 12's in 1500 or lower DA on stock 20" or 20" MT Radial and just have some fun bracket racing for a while.

When I eventually buy the 20" drag radials, I'm hoping they are very consistent like the others I run. But don't dead hook hard enough to start breaking axles. But I don't think that will happen with a bone stock car. But I'm good at tearing stuff up.

Not sure how to embed yet.

My 98 Ls1 A4 on a 100 shot and radials. I don't feel bad about really beating on it now, since I got a new street car. Most of the effort is in the suspension, with a little cam and spray.

Drove it from AL to NJ and back for work last winter and got 20+ mpg
