just out of curiosity, are there expected side effects from leaving the cover on which traps engine heat that could potentially be radiated back into the IM? i'd assume the heat transfer would be minimal in comparison to not using the thermal spacer, but it seems to me the gains could be negated to some degree...a small one, but none the less. has there been any testing with/without the cover?

Can the IM be painted? If so I think that's the route I'll choose!

I have the intake spacer, and I left my intake naked. I just painted it black with some high-temp spray paint. It's designed for use on grills (the kind you cook on, lol). You could use any kind of paint, though, really. I haven't measured any higher than 125 deg F on the plenum since installing the spacer.

Just finished installing mine! Can't wait to test it out tomorrow!! Really was not hard at all. Took about 1.5 hours because I really wanted to take my time with everything (just incase.) I'll let you know tomorrow how it feels!

Can some of the Vararam owners who have installed this take some pictures of the front of the intake area and post them to illustrate how the gap for airflow has changed?

I'll be installing mine tomorrow and will take a before and after pic.

I don't expect any appreciable change in the gap.

Here's my VR intake with the 25mm Mace. A taller insulator....

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=491

The 9mm Black-isolator will fit just fine.
