Took my first ride with the new insulator. Only like 5-10 miles just to run to advanceauto.. Didn't feel much of a difference. Seemed a little more eager through the mid rpm range, but pretty much everyone on here has been saying you don't really feel it until 100 miles or so w/ it on there. I'll come back after I get a little more driving done and give another impression.

I am of the mindset that I'm not going to feel a whole lot until the engine is good and hot, and then at that point the car should feel like it has the same eagerness as it does on a cool day instead of getting more sluggish..

I wouldn't think it would take 100 miles of driving to feel the changes...but I guess I could be wrong.

A lot of the testing was done with the car heat soaked or fully hot, and thats where it showed the true potential of this insulator...thus I think this is just another big step at keeping the car running to its true potential instead of suffering from heat loss. I see this helping a lot on warm days and at the track when guys are waiting in line to hit the strip.

Does any of that make sense? lol

Definitely will, but I won't be doing much driving until after next week.. 3.5 hr drive home for spring break that I plan on making a bit more fun than normal. That will be my true test. I'm sure I won't be upset though, everything I have from Tracy is awesome in the end!

I just ordered my VMax insolator; so, I will post some pictures of the installation and my own personal observations after I get it installed.

I am pretty excited about this mod. Maybe I'll go get dyno'd finally, after it's done, lol.

Hey All,

Just a quick note for folks. I have been getting a few folks saying that they may not buy the BLACK ICE-olator because they do not want to have to port match the intake. There is no need to port match the heads or the intake to get the benfits from the BLACK ICE-olator.

I know a lot of folks are talking about doing port matching, and y'all can do that if you so chose. But I have yet to see any proven results from this. I am not saying that it may not help as it does make sense, but until someone does a before and after dyno test with just the port matching, I will say it is not needed.

So do not get discouraged if you do not feel comfortable port matching the heads as it is not a "have to do" item at all.

Thanks and keep the orders coming

I have to agree. I doubt you guys are going to see any gains by port matching or shaving off the edge to make it line up with the vmax isolator. If there is any gain, you are going to see it in the high rpm where the air speed become much greater, but from experience, I hardly doubt it's even necessary on a minor bolt on setup. If you want gain, take off the head and rework the head, valves, bowls, etc..etc.. and stick a cam in it
