Supercharge or Cam

This is my 1st post so be easy... I have a 2011 SS auto with bolt ons. I want to have a Maggie SC installed but I am concerned about stock internals and drivetrain reliability. I am not looking to build the fastest car around. My main priority is a reliable but faster than stock. I know of the Maggie and Elderbrock warranty and how you are limited to their tune and the no headers.
I have read of several cam upgrades with longtubes and a tune. Less hp than the SC but which build would be more reliable?
Where are the closest shops to Baton Rouge LA that are worth trusting you car with? I know my warranty will be gone but if built and tuned right that should not matter.

Get both! If a daily driver either one will be fine, just dont go crazy with the cam. You will get more bang for the buck with a Maggie at about 6 lbs boost and it will be a huge difference but will cost about 2x what a cam will with headers and exhaust

You have a very good shop down there in LA, the name slips me right now. Do a search for posts by Black10. He will set you up for sure.

Actually the name of the shop is Lethal Racing!!

Went through same debate for my L99 with stock internals. Decided Maggie, Headers, CAI, some other small things and tune by Ted. Self-installed and very satisfied with outcome. Ted's cam will be next mod but will require a road trip so probably 12-18 months out.

Turbo would be better then, less pressure on the engine, less wear and tear beacuse it's not making 750 equivalent hp due to the supercharger to make 650 crank hp to put out 550 to the rear wheels, etc. Of course would have to be tuned correctly, but easier on the engine all things equal.

Both are going to throw out your differential so make sure you have enough money to replace that!

It took me 1 whole week to blow my differential to pieces with just h/c/i.

Go for the Edlebrock with the warranty. Safe boost levels, and keep the warranty intack.

Not sure I can agree with that one, I retune a lot of Edelbroc can tuned cars for dieseling on shut off etc etc. I think GM tuners are leaps and bounds better then the Edelbroc tuners IMHO.

Please feel free to give us a call at Lethal Racing. We are the south's #1 installer of the ECS supercharger kit and also have a few different cam choices as well. We would be happy to discuss and set you up with any combination you would be happy with. We are loctated in lafayette. We also pride ourselves in attention to detail on every project no matter what it is. We have packages from 380 rwhp to 800rwhp and beyond. We also have many FI builds that are daily drivers with no problems

You can call shawn @ 337-258-7692 for info

This saturday the Cajun Camaro club will be stopping by our shop on their way to lunch. Most of them are coming from the Baton Rouge area. There will be about 25-30 camaros. We will also go on a cruise after lunch through some twisty backroads. If you have any questions about the cruise are performance mods to your car, you can email me at nchauffe@gmail.com

I agree. We retuned an Eforce corvette that only had the hand held tuner program in it and we picked up 150rwhp after the dyno tune. The edelbrock tune was very poor...

+1 to Lethal Racing. I have dealt with some of the other shops around Baton Rouge and they are hands down the best I have dealt with.

My car is actually getting ready to go back to them in a few weeks for a cam install. Just give Shawn a call and he will take care of you!

My biggest concern was the AFM lifters and Ted at JRE assured me that his tune would be fine with the Edlebrock SC and his tune. Doing the install myself.

I hemmed and hawed on doing the cam, but for the amount of work and the amount of other things that need to be changed on the L99 (torque converter included), I decided to simply do the SC. The stock Cam has a very flat torque curve, which is what ultimately made me decide to not convert to a LS3.
