Basically heard same story this morning that my car has all the current TSBs. I asked again about an update on when a fix that was suppose to come out in January was coming out in a TSB and was told that they were still looking at getting something out if needed(????) If needed?
Right now since the weather has been too cold to put down the top I haven't experienced any more issues but I am not happy with these bandaid type fixes from last year. I was promised an update in two weeks.

This morning I answered and was pleasantly surprised. I briefly explained that after my 5th bow and top replacement, my top is bulging out behind the rear passenger window and the rear windows wont stay up all the time. Also that the dealer ordered weather stripping thinking that will fix the problem but I didnt think that was the case. I also told her that from what I have read here, I will need another new top. I also inquired whether she had any info on the permanent fix and she said she did not but acknowledged that they are working on it. She also acknowledged that my top may need to be replaced one more time when the fix is released. The bottom line is 1) She apologized several times on behalf of GM/Chevy for the problems with the tops, 2)acknowledged that they are working on rectifying the problem, and 3) offered me either 2 years of on star free or two years of oil changes free for my troubles. I chose the oil changes. To me, this goes a long way in boosting my confidence in GM's customer service and also that they are working on a fix...hopefully before the spring/summer top down weather.
Depending on the mile you drive, I might have taken the OnStar.

They will most assuredly go by the GM oil life system. I like to change my oil way sooner than that.

I am extremely disappointed in GM for releasing a poorly designed and tested convertible product and for their lack of communication/admittance of these issues. It is just plain wrong that so many of us are experiencing these issues within days/weeks of taking ownership. It particularly hurts since taxpayer dollars propped up the company and billions are still owed back to the Treasury. Then GM reps ping these threads asking us what we want on future models... How about a properly functioning top! Talk about adding insult to injury.

some GM reps on these forums have admitted that there are some top problems which they are currently working on, but it would be nice to be kept in the loop as to progress.
It just really pisses me off that there is not the feedback that should be putforth to the vert owners acknowledging top problems and the steps taken so far to resolve such and when they think permanent fixes will be issued

There's a bunch of threads...

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=156957

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142513

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184001

Here's just a sampling of them...

Main issues seem to be:

-Severe pinch/rub/wear marks on sides of top

-5th frame bow breaking... repeatedly

-excessive loud wind noise

-seals not holding

-leaking/water management bag failure

I think that covers the main issues... with a host of spin offs...

Each issue has severla threads already dedicated, there's a facebook page and several people are getting buy-backs... however, as I'm sure you can relate too... a buy-back isn't the optimal fix for many of us with extensive mods.

So we sit, and wait... and hope... and pray... that someday, maybe someday- GM will fix these cars.... and that the tooth fairy brings us $100,000,000... let's see which comes first!

Wow.

Yes, I can relate.

I was the main original slow L99 Fuse Pull guy. Ugh........... THAT SUCKED.

And was absolutely like a ton of weight off my shoulders when we discovered the problem.

Sad thing was that WE discovered it before GM. (or before GM realized that WE knew about it) They figured that most would never say anything or even notice.

Hope you guys get it sorted out. And to think, they spent an extra year and a half just on the top.

Indeed there IS light at the end of the tunnel!

After a disappointing follow-up Monday with GM, I spoke with the Field Rep again regarding my BBB claim for the rub marks, I was advised the following:

1- (and a direct quote) "GM ACKNOWLEDGES THERE IS A PROBLEM"

2- There IS a permanent fix being tested NOW.

3- They are trying to special order the parts needed to apply this fix to my car asap (squeaky wheel gets the grease)

4- they WILL offer a documented, extended warranty for my top once fixed

5- All of the above will be put into a binding (on their part) arbitrary agreement authored by the BBB and my case will remain open with GM during the duration if my extended warranty

A-MEN!!!!!!!!!
