Who supplies brakes on Silverados, Malibus, Tahoes, Cobalts, Ventures? I'm going to guess GM, or they are GM-designed and GM-specified to be built by a contractor. The brakes on my Sierra are quite competent for towing a 6000 pound camper (behind a 6000 pound loaded Sierra) down a mountain, so whoever (GM or otherwise) made those makes decent enough brakes for a 4000 pound car at high speeds.

The V6 brakes are just regular single piston calipers. They are no different than the brakes on any other standard GM vehicle. Its possible that they are made by PBR (they make Corvette calipers) but more than likely they are just GM corporate single pistons. From what I've read, they are aliminum calipers, which is much better than cast iron.

Surprisingly though, somehow the V6 stops almost as well as the SS. Impressive for single pistons all around.

That has as much to do with the tires as the brakes, they were the Perelli P-Zero's on both the V6 and the SS. Expect it to be a bit less on an LS. The brembos will be more resistant to fade than the ones on the V6.

ohh, thanks for the info guys. If the calipers are good in that case, i would only consider to buying some drilled or slotted rotors maybe.

That's what I may do, get some cross drilled and slotted rotors.

You could probably pull the brakes off an SS and bolt them onto a V6 if you wanted to also. I would think the spindles are the same, so as long as the wheel spokes clear the calipers, you could have SS brakes for relatively cheap.

You might find it interesting how many of those parts that are made by other people have AC Delco labels on them.
