Never let mine get below 1/4. Someone told me that if you let it get too low it reduces the cooling effect that the gas has on the pump.

I don't know if the 5th gen fuel pumps are the same, but man on the 93-97 Camaros if you drove on fumes a few times you'd burn your fuel pump right up because the fuel pump is IN the gas tank and uses the liquid gas to keep it cool. Let the tank get too low and there's no gas cooling the pump off and it fails.

New fuel pumps don't burn up when low fuel levels are in the tank. The old school ones used to, not the ones in the gen5 Camaros.

It depends for me, but I've run my cars down to the low fuel light many times without any future fuel related problems.

I run mines to 300 miles plus or minus 10 on my tripometer.

I usually fill up when it gets to about 20-40 miles left on the range computer!
