Premium in a mustang means: Leather Shaker Audio SYNC Speedometer changes colors (I dont want any of these, im just trying to understand what you bought) California special is not necessary=ily premium... So, I think you got the same deal im being offered. I can get a base GT convertible for $30k (not california special) I know a convert from same year sells higher than a hard top same year, im trying to find out how much higher? Spend $7k more to get $1k more when you sell it? Nothxx Spend $7k more to get $3-5k mroe when you sell it? Show me where to sign!!! Does anyone understand what i mean? |

I would think it would be based somewhat on location.
If you are in New York then I can't see a convertible holding it's value any better there because the market is going to be pretty small (second car for almost everyone). However somewhere like Florida where the car could be driven year-round, it would probably help value. So basically, drive around in Florida with a "for sale" sign on it when it comes time to sell. |

Maybe a convertible might hold some minor value longer than a hardtop but I'd think nothing spectacular. IMO - virtually nothing built after 1970 will have any "value" beyond the purchase price. We're not buying anything "special" in my opinion. Why anyone would think buying a new car is an investment is beyond me... I suppose someone in the 60s might have said the same thing at the time, but I just don't see the future "draw" to cars that are made today. They're great machines - no doubt - but collector's items??? I don't see it... I suppose there have been a few "rare" examples over the years, but nothing with the staying power of 60s muscle and earlier models...

Low #'s in production will always get more even in recent models vert or not, but the verts will always get more.
Less is more ?

Anyway - I apologize for kind of hijacking the thread, since it is about short-term resale value not the phantom (IMO) collectors-car value... Maybe I'M the d-bag...

I'm going hard top... thanks guys. The vert won't be worth $5k more when I sell it. And I don't think I'm keeping it for 7 years.
Again, thanks Camaro5 members for allowing me to discuss Mustang pricing here. Again, mustang forums are useless tools filled with just that... tools. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk |
