My garage is also ready. I just sold my really awesome 2011 SS about ten days ago. My third bay is open, organized and waiting...

I am in Afghanistan and won't be home until the middle of July to enjoy my car and even then I will only have 30 days to enjoy it before I have to come back over here. So you all should be thankful that you will be getting your car as soon as it hits the dealership and you have all the time you want to drive it and enjoy it unlike me who has to get an email from my salesman telling me that it's in the showroom and he's going to look at everyday and enjoy looking at it until I can come home and take ownership of it. So all of you out there that are whining about having your car at area 51 and not in your garage can think about that everytime you wan to cry about not having it. Thanks and have a nice day!!

I understand that people want their cars, and the type of people who can afford this type of car have high standards. With that being said we have to assume they are doing everything they can to get your cars to you. I can't imagine the sign offs and testing that goes into the release of a high performance automobile. Correct me if I am wrong but the release of the ZL1 has always been spring 2012? If that is the case spring is from March 20th till June 20th. So if you got your car anytime before March 20th it would actually be early? I am sorry, but you just have to be happy (in todays world) that their building this car, and that you can afford this type of toy. Now if Chevy made some type of promise to you that, you would have the car by an exact date that is another thing. To my knowledge everything is on track and some could say ahead of schedule.

p.s. I would still like to see more vids, pics, stories etc while we wait!

Come on you guys thought this was going to be a smooth release? Not much different than when the 2010 came out. It sucks but us originals went through the same thing. You will forget all about any of this once your out and about.

5 BMWs with "issues" led me directly to a 2012 Boss 302. The timing was off or it might have been a ZL1. Now don't get me wrong, the Mustang hasn't been issue free but the lower price of the car, and maintence and the higher fun factor may mean I never go European again.

Dear Moderators

Can we please combine all these QC bitchin sessions into one thread like you did with the GT500 vs ZL1? It would be so much easier to avoid them all

For those who can't stand finding out all the info about their car and would rather just get a call from their dealer that their car arrived might I respectfully advise you step away from the computer and just watch TV for the next few weeks.

I doubt there is a marketing person from GM in your house holding a gun to your head and forcing you onto the internet.

But did it cross your mind, if they didn't write that in there, that maybe they didn't know themselves? It would be no reflection on what they think you deserve to know. Clearly they think a lot of us ZL1 buyers, that they're issuing these notices to us, at all....

These first-year woes will be the same for nearly all brand new vehicles from any company (ask Challenger owners what Chrysler put them through in 2008)...that's why most people have the good sense to wait for the second model year (not like you or I, ). But we live with it, because getting a '12 MY was worth it.

In GM's defence I would say any car maker when building a new MY with this % of new or redesigned parts would deffinately take a hard look at the first several hundred, if for nothing else just to make sure everything is where it's suppose to be, after all they are being mass produced by a large # of robotics. I am certain they just want to make sure every zl1 owner has the most perfect car that performs at the level that everyone wants and expects....and i also can't wait , am impatient, and have way too much info avaliable on these threads, but at the same time I can't stop reading all the drama....the hype, the excitement....it's over whelming and i love it.and i want my car too, but I can and will wait patiently....

I may not be brand loyal but Chevrolet has always been my first choice but unfortunatly this experience has soured that for me. I feel like Ill never be able to order a new GM vehicle without wandering what kind of headache it will be to get it here

OK - let's slow down a bit.....

I will assure you that 'European' cars have issues when they first go into production. The reason you don't have the 'wait' is that they don't release them for U.S. Consumption until they've done what we're doing.......

The fact is that in most cases, when you order a foreign car, your order is matched to cars coming into the port...... Even in those cases where you DO order the car and have it built to specs, the cars have usually been released in the home market first. So it's an apples to oranges comparison.

I understand that you are anxious to get behind the wheel of your new ZL1. I will not, however, apologize for holding these cars. It's the right thing to do - and we're doing it in the name of custiomer satisfaction.

Yes - I'm sorry that this happens - I've tried to explain time and time again that this isn't uncommon - especially when you realize how many unique parts and part numbers are used on the ZL1.

You state "......I may not be brand loyal but Chevrolet has always been my first choice but unfortunatly this experience has soured that for me. I feel like Ill never be able to order a new GM vehicle without wandering what kind of headache it will be to get it here..."

....I honestly don't know how to respond to those words.....to say that all GM vehicles will be held in Q/C is quite a stretch. If it's a brand new model that's never been built before, yes, there may be issues...again, because it's a matter of quality and customer satisfaction. However, for cars and trucks that we're building right now (not a brand new model) - we have some customers take delivery in as little as three weeks. It would be very easy to say "the heck with it - ship 'em!" - but THAT is not the right thing to do for the customer......

I do hope that you'll find that the ZL1 was well worth the wait.

GM did say spring 2012....the wait is worth it guys. Trust me, we went through this 2009, I was frustrated too, not going to lie, but the end result was definitly worth it.

Frustration;

In psychology, frustration is a common emotional response to opposition. Related to anger and disappointment, it arises from the perceived resistance to the fulfillment of individual will. The greater the obstruction, and the greater the will, the more the frustration is likely to be. While coping with frustration, some individuals may engage in passive–aggressive behavior, making it difficult to identify the original cause(s) of their frustration, as the responses are indirect. A more direct, and common response, is a propensity towards aggression.
