Problem is, I know you have that dyno session scheduled for wednesday and this really throws a wrench into that.

So in that case you probably don't want to remove the insulators.....so gretchen's recommendations it is!
That is the first thing I plan to do tomorrow after work.

Check the plugs and check the compression while I have the plugs out. I'm not really good at looking at the plugs so I will need you guys help in that department. I will take good close up pics

anyone know off hand what type and brand of spark plugs our car comes with from the factory? I'm thinking about changing them out while I already have them out since they don't cost much.

Didn't you have the E85 tune before this? I know the companies that offer the E85 mod recommend that you put a fuel filter inline before the injectors because the ethanol loosens up all the crud that has built up in the gas tank causing the injectors to clog up. I know you put some fuel injection cleaner in and now it seems to be getting better. I think this may be what you problem is.

From what I've gathered, it takes some special equipment to fully test the coils. You can't simply hook it up to the normal multimeter. Either take it to the dealer or call your local Auto Zone/Advanced Auto and see if they can test them for you.

I too was having the same cold start issues and was throwing a P0300 and P0301 code (engine misfire, and cylinder 1 misfire)

Checked the plug on cylinder 1 and it was good. Thought maybe it was an injector so we swapped out a new injector this morning. Tomorrow morning will be the real test when I start it up

Thanks for posting the mis fire codes. Here is another option for causes. Something I have not seen listed yet.

Were is this sensor located. Could it be something that moves more with the isolator installed?

So you been having this issue too? from looking at other peoples solved problems where cold start was the only issue, it look like injector was the main culprit after doing some extensive online research today. Look like it has something to do with leaky injectors. The only misfire code I got from CEL illumination was for cy2 and cy5. However, I don't know if is because of the warmer weather or it's because of techron fuel system cleaner but I have not been getting any CEL so far, when I check for fault codes right after the choke mode I usually have a pending code which is usually cy2 but I guess the problem is not bad enough to come through as a CEL and usually just go away. I also wonder if we normally get pending misfire code on choke mode and we just don't know about it... I know there is some peoples on this forum that have checked their misfire history and seen that they been getting misfires and didn't even know about it. Please post up your result tomorrow as I will post my result for plug check and compression check.

catman, thanks for the info on choke mode when it's cold outside the car does usually vibrate alot and most peoples would say it's very rough, so maybe that's why there is a TSB for cold start misfire? do you happen to have any more info on that BTW? anybody? I know mach is supposed to be looking up on that TSB for me since he had his ecm reflashed by the dealer just for this same cold start misfire reason.

kmorph, I don't think the isolator play a part in this since it's not a moving object and I don't see any sensor on or under. I think the injectors are under the rubbers in between the cylinder head's inlet.

Come to think of it, my car seems to backfire a bit upon startup in the morning. It sounds kinda boss. I only have about 6500 miles on my motor and I've yet to load my tune back into my car since the motor transplant. I tried to a while back and was having some issues with my windows notebook(hate windows-just wish Vince would just make this available for Mac as well) Will do it sometime this week and see if changes. Good luck with all this BMore.

Thanks jak, I just hope and pray that I didn't end up screwing up the internal of the engine. I don't have a good feeling about this at all right now. My kr been higher than usual today too. I am seeing up to 8*of kr by only 3500 rpm and all the way to 10* by 4500 on part throttle. If this was on wot then I wouldn't be too worried as these engines are very sensitive to kr and I'm used to seeing this before but I never seen my kr go that high on part throttle with 93 gas. I'm just hoping the kr is related to the fuel system cleaner as fuel additives can sometimes light up the kr.

I have a question about compression test procedure on this engine. Do I unplug all six plugs and test each one by cranking the key couple times or, do I just take one plug at a time and let the car run??
