you're saying cars with more hp DON'T have the potential for higher performance? That has to be the oddest thing I've read today. |

I think that was snapp32e was trying to state is that more horsepower alone doesn't always equate to more performance, as there are other factors in addition to horsepower that are also involved in determining a vehicle's overall performance.

Your right, they do have the potential. Combined with other upgrades. There are a lot of GT500 owners that would argue against a 100hp increase as the only upgrade for the 2013 year as it has a hard time putting 550hp down right now. 650 just means more smoke in more gears.

the ZL1 hasn't gotten the 1/4 mile time I know it's capable of so apparently it's having issues putting down it's power in a drag strip setting. as any 500+ hp car would regardless of it's suspension on factory tires. |

As any 500+ hp car would in the same conditions yes, it's not ideal weather for high HP cars.

I just can't wait to drive and experience both. As similar as they are, they'll still offer 2 totally different experiences I bet.

I think it's about time! The Mustang did that nearly 50-years ago! And good for them

I am sorry but model year makes a difference. Ford owned the 2011 year with the GT500. The 2012 year belongs to the Bowtie. If model year doesn't matter then neither does the model. In that case the Corvette ZR1 wins hands down. The GT500 can have 2013. Why do Ford people feel the need to spend all their time bashing the Camaro because they set a new standard. Both cars are nice but Camaro wins this round.

I think you are mistaking horsepower with torque... You don't need huge torque to make huge horsepower, in addition Torque is the twisting force. I'm sure most of what I've said you already know though.

of course the model matters LMAO that is crazy. the gt500 and zl1 are in the same segment don't try and pull the vette card now. If I look at my calendar and it's 2012 and I'm in a 2013 model GT500, it will still be the year 2012. Ford makes it so your car is a year new when you buy it the previous year, gm makes it so your car is a few months new in the current year. bottom line, when two cars in the same segment are available for purchasing they are most definitely a fair comparison. Also not sure who you are talking about, I didn't bash the ZL1. |
