And do what? Not sure you can call the police for that?

However I would make a large wager that if I created a thread on this the overwhelming response would have been to bring great violence upon him.

I had a similar incident back in '70 with my then new '69 Z/28. I was parked at a large shopping center and parked way away from everyone, not a car within 200 feet of me. So I'm coming out of the store and headed to my car, there is a big finned Cadillac parked right up beside me, he proceeds to fling open his door and ding my door. As I'm walking toward the two vehicles, I'm hollering at him, he simply ignores me and walks on in to the store. So I promptly opened my trunk and pulled out a tire iron and proceeded to do some custom bodywork of my own on the Cadillac. Remember I was a twenty year old hothead back then, today I would at the least write down the license plate of the offender and turn it over to my insurance company along with a claim, at worst (if the other driver was a real jerk) I'd call the police non-emergency or traffic number and ask for a squad car and report. There is simply no need for people to be so careless and then on top of it not offer their identification and insurance info.

I had someone hit my car in a parking lot, yeah drive into it. They left the clerk knew them and gave me their information. I called from the store and spoke to the kid who did it he said he did it and was sorry, before anything more could happen his dad got on the phone and cussed me out and said they would do nothing for me. I said what are you trying to teach your son about responsibility? He then hung up on me. It was a brand new at the time Aurora so I'm sure they weren't broke. I then called back no answer, then called the police. Here is the crux of the SAD story they said it's public property nothing they can do but fill out a report...that's what YOUR insurance is for. I said isnt it a hit and run? They said only if someone was in your vehicle since it was on public property. I then asked, so if I see their car in a parking lot and no one is in it can I run into it as hard as I like and leave the scene? They said you could, but don't do it. Sometime your the windshield and sometimes your just gonna pay for it.

There is a process here in the Northeast I know of called "paintless ding repair". I've never used it. Might be a national chain, I don't know. Perhaps you can research it and see if it's right for your situation.

Number 3, I lost a friend a few years' back who lived by the motto: "If all your problems can be 'cured' with a $100 bill, you'll have lived a charmed life..."

Sorry to hear about the ding, but this may be one of those "$100 moments"...and confronting some dough-head about it could lead to some grave misfortune...(no pun intended)

This is one of my favorite comedy routines EVER...right up there with the 7 dirty words. And it applies here - sorry to hear about your door ding, 3. :(

It'll definitely be a sight on the road!

I'm holding my thoughts in for now...I don't think we know enough about this, yet.

Besides...I'm starting to go barking-mad, as the brits would say, coming so close to the delivery day!!!
