im still trying to figure out what exactly i want to do. i bought a yota last summer (nice, lifted 4x4), putting down a nice down payment. so, im thinking about selling it (i've got some pretty decent positive equity now), getting into a decent used truck, and putting the rest of the money towards the new SS to finance it. but, i don't know if I want to pre-order, wait and buy one sitting on the lot, or wait for a 2nd yr model.

I'm waiting until I graduate college, so around 2012. Which kinda sucks but its worth the wait. I'll use the camaro as a kind of motivation through college and use it as a graduation present.
I've been thinking about how great this forum is going to be once the camaro comes out. We can talk about great parts and dealers. Cant wait.

I'll likely wait for a while, maybe until the second year model, not because of fear of problems, etc., but to see what further drivetrain options may be offered. I really want a Z/28, if it's not available at first I'll wait until it is.

I'm waiting til' the mid-cycle refresh, this way I'm sure to get a debugged car with all the updates.

I'll be waiting until 2011 or 2012. I graduate from college in 2009. I'm getting married. My fiancee will be buying a new car soon. I'll have entry level pay and bills to pay off. I want to start investments and savings first. And I'm still paying off my Cobalt, and I like having low loan and insurance payments on that thing, as well as good gas efficiency. But by 2012, the Cobalt will be paid off, I'll get an insurance break for being 25, I'll have a few years of savings under my belt, a good handle on my student loans, and maybe even a couple raises. Waiting will be hard, but it is the smart thing to do, and by then I'll actually be able to afford the Camaro I want than just settling for the Camaro I can afford.

^Almost ditto for me; graduating '09 + get good paying job + save + pay off current car = buy Camaro or Clubman S (only buying the latter if fuel economy on the 5th-gen blows; I've gotta have a fuel efficient/fun and affordable car).

A mid-cycle refresh is basically a sheet metal upgrade. The basic engineering remains the same but the car looks a bit different. tends to happen after about 5 years of a particular generation of car, or halfway through its cycle.

i guess if you are planning on leaving the engine stock then waiting for the big dog engine will be the way to go.
not me,, i will have engine mods starting shortly after i get mine, at least head work and a cam swap/tuning, exhaust, for the 1st summer and it will be at the track, and a shot of gas just to make sure it gets some 10sec runs in

DGthe3 answered this already - but I wanted to add, that a good example would be the subtle differences between the 1997 Camaros, and the 1998 Camaros.

Another advantage to waiting is the first year's will still be available on lots, and you get a chance to see what's new for the second year. Save some money on a first year if the second is right around the corner. I'm thinking if we are all screaming for a 500+ hp beast in the first year we may see it in the second.

No later than 2011. I'm hoping to get a first year model if I can, but we'll see. My wifes car will be paid off in 2011, so that's the wisest decision for me.

I have made a hard choice but I am going to stick with it. I will wait until 2010 or 2011 to see what is offered. I want the most for my money.

Well lets see. The count down timer on my phone says as of 02/25/08 i still have 602 days till camaro arrives. My birthday in '10. So I'm looking for the vert to be available hopefully by then. If not may have to go with the coupe. But either way Oct of 2010 its gonna be mine.:5thgenvert:
